OMG--Our Status Changed to "Refused"

OMG I am freaking out! Our AP on CEAC has said "Ready" (but ready for an interview) since before my husband's interview one month ago. Today, it changed to Refused. I'm about to have a stroke because they have no reason to refuse us. We have been together 6.5 years, I am getting ready to make my 8th trip to see him. When he had his interview, they did not ask for any more evidence. We had sent in 6+ pounds of evidence. They seemed mostly interested in the fact that I have been divorced 4 times. We are an older couple with some age difference...He's 50, I'm 66. There is no way a person can undo divorces nor ages. What the heck can we do?

Oh my! I'm so sorry! I remember you from January and February U-130 filers last year. I'm hoping it's just a mistake. Is there any way either of you can call the embassy for further info?

We actually filed two years ago this December. I have sent my congressman an email. They have been good to try to help us. I can't imagine starting over. I am trying desperately to read info about this. Some say Refused can just mean they are still checking. I am praying this is the case and waiting for more info. They didn't ask us for any more papers. But they did keep his passport, IF that makes any difference.

I'm sorry this happened to you.  I have yet to see refused as an error or used as a transition status.  It means refused.  See what your congressman finds out.  You will receive a NOIR/NOID with the reason(s) for refusal and can send in a rebuttal.  Good Luck!

Thank God, I have the help of my senator's office. She called them and they said "Refused" just means the same as when at the end of the interview, they gave him the 221g which says refused because they need to do AP. It does not mean "denied." So he is still in AP. There should really be another word other than refused, like still processing or something like that.

Were his 4 previous wives  USCs? ifmnore docs were to go in

there will likely be refused on ceac, at times it goes to AP then

issued, other times the bebeficiary have entered the US & ceac

still says refused

Well, my friends, I am now officially crushed. CEAC changed our status to "Returned to NVC." I don't know what we can do now. We have been together 6.5 years, had more than 6 pounds of evidence, 7 trips to visit him. What else can we do? I am 66 now, two years short of retiring. I can't move there. I have a home, a big dog, a brother with MD who needs me, and will probably have to work at least another 2 years to afford all these trips and such.

 

I am having my senator call and find out why. I don't know what else we can do. The 4 divorces were mine. He has one divorce. I have brought one other person over who proved to be abusive. We can't change any of the past. At his interview, they focused on my 4 divorces, but that can't be changed.

 

OMG, now what? We will have to start over and spend another gazillion dollars on trips and fees. And I can't change my divorces, and we can't change our age differences. WTH is wrong with these people?

OMG, they are sending our case back! We have known each other 6.5 years, sent more than 6 pounds of evidence, had 7 visits. We knew each other more than 4 years before we got married. They seemed focused on my 4 divorces, the last of which was a Moroccan I brought over here who ended up being abusive. But this can't be changed when we reapply. We do have an age difference, but nothing can be done about that.

 

What is a person to do? I am leaving for my 8th trip next week. I'm afraid they will ask for more evidence within 30 days, but I won't be back in time to send it. This is just breaking my heart.

 

Where could I send an email to inquire? Would it be possible to schedule another interview or meet with them while I am there?

The hateful Pakistani man focused on my 4 divorces. There is nothing I can do about my past. He felt they thought he was "just my fifth marriage". We waited to get married, were friends for 4 years, etc. What else can we do?

 

I want to know if I can make an appointment to talk to somebody at the embassy while I am in Islamabad??? Does anybody know? There has to be an American representative somewhere there that can help.

Did you go in with him when he was being interviewed ?

 

I am not sure what you can do next but i am assuming getting a lawyer will be a good idea

I understand that the CO focused on the divorces but what did your current husband say about them? Maybe your husband said something strange that made them skeptical of the relationship.

 

I'm not being skeptical myself, just trying to see it from the CO's point of view. It sounds to me like something during the interview was askew. Either that or they just flat out don't trust your case and you might have to end up re-affirming your case after a denial. Sorry that you're having such a hard time...it's everyone's nightmare on VJ to end up with such problems.
