Hi all,

I'm so confused right now. I received my NOA2 for my mexican fiance about a month ago, and last week we received word that my case is being sent to the Embassy in Ciudad Juarez.  I've compiled most of what I need as far as paperwork for the affidavit of support and plan to give it to her before her interview(I plan to go visit again before her interview because she is a little nervous to be in that city alone because of high crime rates)  My question is: now what? Will she get a letter stating her consular interview date?  Also, another question,We have tried to make an ASC

Appointment on https://ais.usvisa-info.com/es-mx/niv, she made an account and everything,  but the problem is,  K1 doesn't show up for types of visas. I don't understand this.  When do we need to schedule her ASC appointment? I've read a document from the CJ embassy saying we need to make an appointment as soon as possible,  but then I read some people saying online that you should wait until you get a consular interview date before scheduling an appointment with the ASC. I don't understand this at all, which one is it? Some people's stories online say that they recieved an appointment for the interview from the NVC,  well the NVC just told us that our case is being sent to the Embassy.  I'm so confused right now about all this.  Someone please help, or if someone has a similar situation from Mexico, please share your story with me, I really need guidance on this step.

Thank you

You have to wait now. The NVC is sending the case to the embassy and the embassy will review the case and contact your fiance.

You do not get the appointment by the NVC, that is only for other Visa types.

Your fiance will be notified by the embassy and will get instructions on what the next steps are.

Basically, as soon as she gets instructions by the embassy she will fill out a form online (DS160)

and after that will be able to schedule an appointment. Don't schedule anything before they tell you to.

Now, people who are familiar with the process specifically in mexico will be able to tell you more than i.  but here you can read about what the steps will be after your fiance received the instructions >>  https://mx.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee/where-to-apply/

Note: technically the k1 is a nonimmigrant visa but at this stage its now referred to as an immigrant visa. its confusing.

The date on the NOA2 is May 17, 2017.

About two weeks later though I received a letter saying that the NVC  forwarded my case to the Embassy in CJ. Since then we've done the DS 160  and the Affidavit of Support form

I guess right now we're just waiting for her to get a date for the Consular interview before we continue on with the ASC appointment, medical exam etc
