B1/B2 Visa application while waiting for approval of K! visa

Hi....

My fiancee and I are discussing about her applying for US tourist visa from Philippines to see and meet each other for the 3rd time. It's her 1st time to apply for a US tourist visa if ever. We thought about doing that to spend some time together, like a week, while waiting for the approval of K1 visa application which was applied last May 24, 2017, so we could gather more proofs/evidences of an on-going genuine relationship. My question is, is it a good plan to do that while there is K1 visa application in the process? Would it have an effect on the approval of K1 visa?

Thanks and more power.

Firstly, she'll only be granted a B2 based on her own merits and if she could prove strong ties back home. However, it's been said that it is quite difficult for a single Filipina to get a B2 in general. Couple that with your pending K-1, there's a very slim possibility of her being given a B2 due to her known immigration intent.

Secondly, no, a B2 whether approved or not will not affect your K-1 approval.

Thirdly, perhaps consider meeting in a third country instead of the US. That way you can still collect additional meeting evidences.

Good luck! :)

Thanks for that.

Proving strong ties? Like what/how?

Having a permanent job in her country, like working as a nurse in a government hospital for more than 7 years, would that help for a B2 visa application?

Actually, I'm the one who wanted her to visit here while waiting for the approval of K1 visa.

Actually, I'm the one who wanted her to visit here while waiting for the approval of K1 visa.

It can be employment, school, business, property, other overseas travel history etc.

It doesn't matter if you're the one wanting her to visit the US because that's not gonna be a consideration criteria or even lead to an approval.

Definitely look into having a vacation together somewhere else :)

I'll take note of that and consider taking a vacation with her somewhere else then.

Not a problem :)

Highly unlikely you'll get the B2 Visa if your applying for the K1 visa they'll look at that and determine immigrant intent. Even with strong ties they'll wonder why you applied for a K1 Visa.

The K1 process is typically fairly quick as long as you sent everything you need to.

You only need to meet once and show that you have met. I know it's difficult to wait, but her getting applying for a Visitor visa is extremely difficult. She will need to show an ability to support herself, must own property, have strong family ties, own a car, etc. On top of that, they are going to want to know why she can't just wait for the K1 when it's already considered an expedited visa. By the time you process the Visitor visa, pay for everything, and she gets to visit, you are probably looking at a month or more anyway.
