Help Regarding to I-134

Hello everyone,

My name is Kylie and I am just starting my K-1 visa process for my fiance, Tom, who is from England.

I am currently an employed college student who still relies on my father, who is a physician, on money occasionally. Does that mean my father should co-sponsor my fiance Tom? If so, what do we put him for the relation on the form, future son-in-law? I am just confused on this part of the process.

The question really is, does the money that you make enough to pass the financial requirements?

If no, then yes your father can be your cosponsor, if he makes enough to pass the financial requirements (if he has any dependents they must be taken into account in that figure).

Are you aware of the amount needed in the requirements?

I'm not clear on what stage you are in, but since you mention that you're starting the process, the I-134 won't be required in your I-129F package that goes to the USCIS. The I-134 and supporting financial documents must be sent to your fiancé that he will take on his interview. If you're just starting out in the process, you don't need to be premature on it, as you'll have quite a while before you get to that stage.

That relationship on the form is fine.

Only one I-134 will be required in London specific cases. If using a cosponsor they will not want anything from you, it will just be the form and supporting evidence from the cosponsor. This I-134 is a non-binding agreement. Keep in mind that after you marry, you will need to file for adjustment of status. If you still do not make enough at this time you will require a joint sponsor. This is the binding agreement an is more financially strict. Make sure that all parties involved are aware of that.
