USCIS Requests Interview AZ

I have a co-worker who is from Mexico that has a 10 year green card coming up for renewal. USCIS is requesting her to travel to Arizona for an interview even though she lives in Dallas. She has lived in Dallas since coming to the US and her address is current with USCIS. 

 

Anyone ever heard of this and why Arizona and not Dallas?

It's extremely rare to get an interview for renewal of the 10 year green card.  Like super rare.  Have they been convicted or any crimes or been apart of any other shady things?  That would begin to clear the picture of firstly why they want her in and secondly why that office.

Each USCIS office only has jurisdiction over a set area. If she lives in Dallas, the local office having jurisdiction over her residence would be Dallas.

 

It's likely a mistake.

 

USCIS tried to get me to interview in Houston at one point. I had to go through the Ombudsman to make them realise it should actually be Dallas.

I thought it was odd too that they would call her in for an interview let alone go to AZ.

I since found out after I posted this that she does have a felony on her record. 

Makes a little more sense now why the interview, but why AZ?

The interview makes more sense then It's still uncommon, but much less so.

The AZ part might be a mistake. She should contact USCIS and/or make an Infopass appointment to see about getting it changed to her local field office.
