Definitely.  I have no idea where they get the idea that the MDL is 60% of the population.  Gallup in 2015 showed about 24% liberal compared to 38% conservative and the rest driving in NB's MOR lanes.  That was up 4% or so from 2012, so I doubt now in 2017 it is anywhere near 60%.

Exactly. Many of us independents also tend to lean to the left, but when we get alienated and effectively called Russians, or Trump slappies, racists, bigots, and every other noun the left attacks people with who disagree with them, it doesn't take much thought to understand why Trump was elected and the left are losing support.

I tend to lean a bit Left on social issue except for the need of a larger federal government, but when it comes to economic issues I am solidly anti-socialist.  I do agree though that the identity politics practiced by the DNC does turn me off quite a bit.  I didn't really appreciate being labeled as a racist if I disagreed with President Obama, or being labeled a Russian stooge because I believe President Trump should be given a chance to actually do the job.  And when one side completely espouses views that only they are right it is a really big turn-off.  One of my favorite radio shows is Red Eye Radio that runs overnight from 12 MN to 5 am (I catch it on Tune In on a station from Seattle), they will criticize everyone regardless of the party, but they tend to swing a bit to the Right especially on economic issues.

I interpolated that from the number of folks who think Trump is not fit for the presidency according to last week's Gallup poll.

I think many of us down the middle posters would agree, but there was no fit for the job choice.

And I continuously made comments and warned about these exact same things even BEFORE he was elected. Nobody listened and they still don't get it, they'd rather blame it on [Enter Hilary Excuse here]. Hilarious.

I'm generally left leaning on most social issues and right leaning on most economic issues although there are "outliers" on both(social issues that I'm more to the right on, economic issues that I'm more to the left on). Honestly it seems like in the forum(there are a few exceptions on both sides) for the most part, those on the right are closer to center than those on the left. The latter tend to kind of be "all or nothing".

MSNBC going the fake news route too on Scalise.. attacking him as a white supremacist as he's been in the hospital fighting for his life:

Quote

There’s a whole country out there and a lot of people, at least in my Twitter timeline, and it’s a delicate thing, because everybody is wishing the congressman well and hoping that he recovers, but Steve Scalise has a history that we’ve all been forced to sort of ignore on race,” Reid claimed.

He did come to leadership after some controversy over attending a white nationalist event, which he says he didn’t know what it was,” Reid said.

The liberal host appeared to be referencing the fact that Scalise allegedly spoke to a white nationalist group as part a series of talks he gave about tax legislation in 2002. “I didn’t know who all of these groups were and I detest any kind of hate group,” Scalise said three years ago, adding at the time that “as a Catholic, I think some of the things they profess target people like me.” Democratic Rep. Cedric Richmond, who is black, dismissed the accusations of racism and said: “I don’t think Steve Scalise has a racist bone in his body.” Reid did not note that Scalise has repeatedly condemned the group.

He also co-sponsored a bill to amend the Constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman. He co-sponsored the House healthcare bill, which as you said would gut healthcare for millions of people including three million children and he cosponsored a bill to repeal the ban on semiautomatic weapons,” Reid continued, bashing Scalise for holding mainstream Republican positions. “Because he is in jeopardy and everybody is pulling for him, are we required in a moral sense to put that aside in the moment?

http://dailycaller.com/2017/06/17/steve-scalise-cant-defend-himself-msnbc-is-back-to-attacking-him-anyway/

Whew, what an angry bitter old hag.

Earth to Reid, playing the race card and throwing tantrums doesn't get you your way anymore, and bashing someone who did nothing wrong (other than being a Republican) after being shot makes you a pos.

For Pete's sake. If I want to understand what centrist views are I would read the Atlantic or Financial Times.  If I quoted the Atlantic ot FT in this forum I would be accused of promoting leftist policies.  Even if you accept gay rights, Yuns are not centrists.

Thank you for reaffirming the last sentence in my post. True centrists are considered "right" only by those who are hard left.
