It currently takes 11 weeks starting from scan date for NVC to process cases. Hopefully little less but 11 weeks is an average. My scan date is May 19th, so I'm expecting my case to be complete by the end of July or first week of August. With no check lists that is! Hopefully no check lists! lol

  • Case number assigned - 4/6/2017
  • DS-261 Filled out - 4/10/2017
  • Welcome letter/invoice received - 4/11/2017
  • AOS fee payed - 4/12/2017
  • IV fee payed - 4/14/2017
  • Completed DS-260 Application - 4/20/2017
  • Sent documents to NVC - 5/15/2017
  • Scan Date - 5/19/2017
  • Case Complete at NVC - 7/19/2017
  • Interview date released - 8/1/2017
  • Interview date - 9/6/2017 - Approved!

Yes, you do NOT want a checklist.  We received one on 1/13/17.  My attorney immediately called NVC to challenge it.  We finally received the official "case complete/you are in the queue for an interview" email on 4/10/17.

Senior Master Sergeant, US Air Force- Retired (after 20+ years)- Missile Systems Maintenance & Titan 2 ICBM Launch Crew Duty (200+ Alert tours)

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

NVC said we were missing my wife's birth certificate and divorce decree...after several months...  My attorney called them and supposedly "took care of the issue".  However, we didn't get case complete until 12 weeks after that.  Honestly, I'm not sure if the attorney had sent the items in the first place.

01/16/2017: NOA1, I-130 received at USCIS California Service Center
02/09/2017: NOA2, I-130 approved 

NVC
02/20/2017: Case number assigned
03/04/2017: Received DS-261 / AOS Bill
03/04/2017: Pay AOS Bill 
03/04/2017: Submit DS-261
03/08/2017: Receive IV Bill 
03/10/2017: Pay IV Bill
03/23/2017: Send AOS and IV Package :    2017-03-23
03/24/2017: Scan date
03/25/2017: Expedite Request
03/28/2017: NVC forwarded expedite request to embassy
03/30/2017: Embassy expedite approved

06/01/2017: Case Complete

06/13/2017: Received email that file immediately being sent to embassy for expedited interview processing and scheduling by embassy

06/14/2017: Case status changed at NVC to completed

06/15/2017: Received email from embassy interview schedule for 06/23/2017
