Biometrics validity period

Last year I applied for my EAD and AP separately, without realising that you could only do that IF you had already filed your AOS (schoolboy error).

During this process I attended a biometrics appointment and all went well. Obviously both my EAD and AP were eventually denied given that I hadn't applied for AOS (once USCIS had taken my money, obviously).

 

Fast forward to 'Day 58' since receiving all three NOAs for my AOS package; I still have not received an appointment letter for a biometrics interview and, so, am planning to file a service request once sixty days passes.

 

Is it possible I haven't received an appointment letter as I already had my retinal scan and fingerprints captured during the biometrics appointment last year, and these are still valid for my current petition?

Biometrics, once captured, are valid for 15 months.

Thank you for that information. I'll have to double check the date of my previous appointment. Hopefully this could work in my favour, meaning my case is forced into being expedited so as to avoid the need to have my biometrics taken again. Although, the USCIS rarely appears to work in a predictable or logical manner.

Oddly enough, I just got an RFE for my AOS this morning via the USCIS app. Does that mean my old biometrics were used, and that stage is now behind me, as it were?

No. You need valid biometrics on file with USCIS on the day they adjudicate your I-485. That day isn't here yet.

So, I'll have to retake them at some point. There's no way my AOS will be adjudicated before they expire.
