I understand your frustration!  I also try not to get too involved with trying to change things because it seems like I can't. 😬 I just end up being in a really bad mood - just ask my husband!

But do stay here with us lest you feel like you're the only one stuck in this situation. 🙄🤗

October 2011: Met in Spain

2012-2014: Video chat + visas + visits and vacations = we made it through!

December 31, 2015: got married

April 20, 2016: sent I130 package

May 2, 2016: package received in Chicago Lockbox - - - 12 days for delivery!! Don't use TNT couriers!!

May 2nd or 5th, 2016: email NOA1... accepted and sent to.... NEBRASKA

And now.... breeeeeeathe..... be like water my friend....

October 26th, 2016: NOA2 [We had waited almost 6 months. Received notification from the phone app, never got an email.]

November 9th 2016: USCIS sent the petition to NVC (app notification) [waited 2 weeks after approval for this]

November 25th 2016: NVC received and created account for our petition [waited 16 days after USCIS sent it, for NVC to acknowledge receipt]

Dec 1st 2016: Chose agent online DS261 [a few days later than it could've been since the above NVC email went to SPAM!]

Dec 6th 2016: Case available for paying fees. That was fast, I think! 5 days!

Took a long time to get package out because... life... and husband's family in Morocco had to travel to get police document.

Feb 20th 2017: Scan date at NVC, received weird email.

April 28th 2017: CHECKLIST. Moroccans are required to send a Court Report regardless of Police Record status. My husband had to go back to Morocco to get it in person. Also, NVC wants a 2016 tax return now that is 2017. My bad.

September 15th 2017: 2nd Scan Date at NVC. Sent for document review October 20th.

We passed 60 days last week.  I called NVC. What they told me is in a post above, in this thread.

Basically, nothing. Whoever is supposed to look at the social media still has it.

Hi my friend how u doing I hope u doing great. I contacted with the Congress two weeks ago and they email back today. They said they contacted with the nvc and they said they said contact with the embassy, so now the congress is contacting with the embassy and I’ll let u know whatever the embassy say to the congress I hope we all get a good news soon.

I contacted the senator he contacted the embassy and they told him it is still in admin processing and they cannot give a timeline so he said to wait, which I cannot do. I called the NVC and I told them I submitted the DS5535 and I asked them please confirm that you got it and that it is okay they said that according to the last note from the embassy, they have all the documents and they do not need any additional documents.

My conclusion: The case is at the embassy. the embassy has a backlog and admin processing means you have to wait your turn. I email them every other day asking for my case they only replied once. I will continue to do so to check my status, this is our right.

Do not give up I am telling you, you are closer to getting your visa everyday day

I will leave you with this picture...

Hi guys!

I am new in this boat of the DS-5535! I am also very frustrated with the procedure and the waiting time. I have been waiting for 6 weeks now and I did not get any updates. I want to share with you my story, I will feel less alone on this boat. Also, it could be useful for someone who is stuck in the same situation.

I've applied for a J1 visa on February 8th at the embassy of Paris to travel to the US for my postdoctoral position. The officer has asked me very quick questions, gave me a formula and told me to go home, fill the DS-5535 and wait.

I have called the embassy and the NVC today on the 6033340888 and the answer was "Your case is still under AP, we will contact you if we need further information". Do you think this means that I will have to wait for months yet before getting any answer? :s
