Yes I am originally from one of those countries. I had the interview on October and the officer asked for my resume and later got an email with DS-5535. But from another group and also from wherever I am checking on one got visa from one of those countries after Dec 8th. They say (people in the group) there wont be any visa issued until the final decision on July (for ban countries). I am not sure if that is true? Even though I am Canadian and been living here for more than 10 years but apparently I fall under those ban countries and I have not idea how long it will take. I had no updates on my case so far and I cannot find anyone in similar situation. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

p.s. do you guys think I should hire and attorney? Does that help? The embassy doesn't give me any answer I just receive typical reply.

What has happened on Dec 8th or after  that you think they stopped issuing visas? Would you update me about the new laws? I'm getting worried now :(

Apparently thy suspended any visa issue until further decision. At least I couldn't find anyone got visa after Dec from one of those countries hope I am wrong (but I have heard that from other people too). I have not got any updates so far since my interview, unless I send them email.

Does the Proclamation apply to dual nationals?

This Proclamation does not restrict the travel of dual nationals, so long as they are traveling on the passport of a non-designated country.

Our embassies and consulates around the world will process visa applications and issue nonimmigrant and immigrant visas to otherwise eligible visa applicants who apply with a passport from a non-designated country, even if they hold dual nationality from one of the eight restricted countries.

What is a “close family member” for the purposes of determining if someone is eligible for a waiver?

Section 201(b) of the INA provides a definition of immediate relative, which is used to interpret the term “close family member” as used in the waiver category.  This limits the relationship to spouses, children under the age of 21, and parents.  While the INA definition includes only children, spouses, and parents of a U.S. citizen, in the context of the Presidential Proclamation it also includes these relationships with LPRs and aliens lawfully admitted on a valid nonimmigrant visa in addition to U.S. citizens.

So according to this, having a dual citizenship and being the immediate relative would qualify most of us for a waiver!

We cannot say anything. Some times its a good news and sometimes its just that they have updated the website or working or your case may be. And yes website is a little bit down because of maintainence may be. Stay hopeful and keep praying.

It could be. Unfortunately there's no way to know for sure. When was your interview? And when were you given the Ds5535?
