Hello Everyone!

Been reading this forum for a while, and, I am in the same boat. My husband had his interview on January 19 ,everything went fine ,they just asked for one document with the passport to turn in the US consulate. We did that and then suddenly they sent us a questionnaire (which is exactly like DS 5355) . Anyways, turned it in again last week. Got status updates for three consecutive days and then it stopped . I am very frustrated. Just dunno how long is the wait!! Reading here helps me go thru a little bit .

thanks!

In which Us Consulate is your husband's case being processed?

The embassy will email you . take that email to the medical center to redo your medical because it's expired. You don't need your passport again to do the medical.

Okay.. Some people have said that they will return passports when they will ask for a new medical. Lets see what happens. :(

Mine too. It will expire in march. I thought it will expire after 1 year. But here i read that validation is only for 6 months. Canadians are lucky their medical expires after one year :-P

Really? Where can I find it please? (for Canadians)

Medical exam for Canadian immigrants expires after one year. Many of my cousins which have applied for Canada's immigration have one year validation period for medical. But for USA.. Its only 6 months that i found out here on this forum. Before that, i was thinking that our medical will also expire after one year just like Canadians :(

They will send you your passport back, and ask you to submit it with the new medical exam.

my fiancé just did this they don't send the passport back you just need to take a copy of your passport

and the letter from the embassy when you call for your medical tell them the embassy has your passport they will advise you

Renee 2016, yeah it seems that each consulate is different. Also,  I see that your visa has been issued congratulations! Wishing you the best!

Were you given the Ds5535? If so,  when?  because I see that you interviewed in March of 2017 and the form wasn't implemented yet then.

Hello! I understand your frustration all too well-- the element if uncertainty is,  without a doubt, the most painful part of the process. But do not despair, we've seen cases get cleared only a couple of weeks after submitting the form. And fortunately for you and your husband, you live on the same continent, perhaps you could visit each other often until you get cleared. One question though, did they keep his passport?

Hello @YoungPadawan sorry to answer this late no they did not keep he’s passport but when we talked to the lawyer he told us to send it via DHL along with the form DS-5535 that the officer asked by husband to send...I called the consulate today (Juarez) an the lady that answered told me  they had send a report to get an update she said I could continue on calling back but that’s about it :( I will call back maybe Friday but will keep on checking my status I mean after all that’s what I’ve been reading on here that people do just keep checking an wait....

Your consulate/embassy (Juarez) actually answers a phone? The African embassy I have to deal with not only does not have phone to call.  they do not give a ####### if you have to travel to DOS country designated zone 4 (travel and die) . Which I did 5 times since I married my husband. And I am an American citizen of different race and national origin.  I guess almost 4 years of processing our case and us not being welfare cases is making their heads explode. Happy Valentine's day, everyone. May your spouses come soon. And me (4 years into this nonsense almost) so angry ready to take all our money (not trivial) and move to the Azores that we went to in 2016 just to live our life together without some fricking government telling us when we can be together. Me Chicago. Him Bamako. You do the map. You can't sue US embassy for abusing you even if you can afford it. Likewise you cant ask them to spend more than 5 seconds on your case even if you submitted every document in triplicate.  That really needs to change.
