I'm so sorry-- this is so hard and the unknown wait time makes it even more difficult.  I'm glad though that it was given to the majority.  Hoping its a quick turnaround and just a formality.  I've read a lot of varying information about wait times.  Anything in AP is hard to estimate.

but isnt most of AP's resolved in 2 months ?

I think that's generally true but from just reading here, it looks like DS5355 is taking longer.

My husband’s interview was five months ago and is still on AP since then without even a status update.

There’s different types of AP. DS-5535 AP is a Security Check AP and takes longer than the normal AP

That seems reasonable.

And we got a 221g that had the request for supplementary information (the social media part) written on the bottom of it.

October 2011: Met in Spain

2012-2014: Video chat + visas + visits and vacations = we made it through!

June 2014: Moved to Spain, got engaged

December 31, 2015: got married

April 20, 2016: sent I130 package

May 2, 2016: package received in Chicago Lockbox - - - 12 days for delivery!! Don't use TNT couriers!!

May 2nd or 5th, 2016: email NOA1... accepted and sent to.... NEBRASKA

And now.... breeeeeeathe..... be like water my friend....

October 26th, 2016: NOA2 [We had waited almost 6 months. Received notification from the phone app, never got an email.]

November 9th 2016: USCIS sent the petition to NVC (app notification) [waited 2 weeks after approval for this]

November 25th 2016: NVC received and created account for our petition [waited 16 days after USCIS sent it, for NVC to acknowledge receipt]

Dec 1st 2016: Chose agent online DS261 [a few days later than it could've been since the above NVC email went to SPAM!]

Dec 6th 2016: Case available for paying fees. That was fast, I think! 5 days!

Took a long time to get package out because... life... and husband's family in Morocco had to travel to get police document.

Feb 20th 2017: Scan date at NVC, received weird email.

April 28th 2017: CHECKLIST. Moroccans are required to send a Court Report regardless of Police Record status. My husband had to go back to Morocco to get it in person. Also, NVC wants a 2016 tax return now that is 2017. My bad.

September 15th 2017: 2nd Scan Date at NVC. Sent for document review October 20th.

Nov 10th 2017: Email requesting document be brought to interview. Will schedule interview.

Case complete date??: TBD :clock:.... November 8th!!

Interview date : January 18, 2018!!           Result: Administrative Processing

Embassy called for new medical last week of August. New Medical Sept 10.

Visa ISSUED September 14, 2018.

I was asked same form. I have the question. What is a handle? Is it passwords for emails and social platforms? Because I have not submitted passwords...

Is DS-5535 the last step in the process getting the visa? I have read that some people have gotten DS-5535 after few months of the interview after being in AP. So I was wondering if getting the DS-5535 immediately after the interview a sign that the visa was approved and just waiting for DS-5525. The visa officer has kept both of our original divorce decrees with him but we did get the DS-5535 email soon after the interview. This was in Casablanca consulate.

Any thoughts?

I believe the DS-5535 is not given to everyone. If you are lucky you may not get the form. The form is a horrible thing to get. This is the only form I know of in the US that doesn't have any duration or a defined process. They say if you didn't hear from us in 60 days you can get in touch with us. Unfortunately this just a lips service, after two month you get a generic email that has no specifics and no meaning. This an unfair process, that doesn't make any sense, and doesn't look like the America we know!! where every thing is well defined, and fairness is the KEY! I completely understand the rationale for the form, however the implementation is disastrous! I think each one here need to reach out to his or her state Senators and lawyers to let them be aware of the pain we are going through to unite with our loved ones!! There are here some waiting for the last 7 months, some are even more.

From what I understand 90% of the people are now getting this form at Casablanca and the wait time is 4 to 6 months.

No one really knows! There is no any official release from the consulate. We do not have any statistics on who gets it and why and how long it takes to clear it.

When it was first implemented, 65,000 visa applicants were to receive it. Have they exceeded that number? No one knows! It’s just random. My fiancé had his interview the 24th of August and returned the form the 28th of August. We’ve had multiple date updates, but still in AP. It’s stressful receiving the same generic email after submitting an inquiry!

Yes, it’s more money have to be spent because the medical expires after 6 months. Idk what to do, but it’s very stressful
