Okay guys, so is inquiring through the consulate’s email the only way to reach out to them and get my husband’s passport back so he can travel for work? Because I’ve inquired in the beginning of our waiting game (7 months in Ds5535) but I never got a response.

My question are, how can I request for my husband’s passport back? And how long will it take until he receives it?

At this point, I just don’t want my husband to stop his life waiting for this. He needs to travel to make a living!

Same response as congressman inquiry :

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your pending visa case. the case is still undergoing administrative processing, and unfortunately we cannot determine precisely how long it will take to complete this process.  We realize that these extended time periods cause frustration to many individuals and we are sensitive to the fact that one of the principal purposes of the immigrant visa program is to re-unite families.  Nonetheless, Consulate General Casablanca, like all U.S. embassies and consulates, must adjudicate visas in accordance with the provisions of the law, and, in some cases, this involves extensive administrative processing.

It is not uncommon for this procedure to take longer depending on the volume of cases the Department is working on. We will contact you immediately upon completion in order to finalize the visa application process.  Please be assured that Consulate General Casablanca and the Department of State are aware of your concerns and will do all we can to see that the visa is adjudicated as soon as the processing of your application has been completed.

I hope that this information is helpful.

Regards,

Immigrant Visa Unit, U.S. Consulate General
