Agreed. The DS-5535 is a very good way to keep additional people out who supposedly do not technically fall under the ban, without making the ban look like it's over-kill.

My fiancé received the DS-5535, we suspect because his birth place is Iran even though he’s a European citizen. He’s also Christian.

I feel our our best hope for anyone stuck in AP because of the DS-5535 or because they are waiting for a waiver, is a change of administration and a more sensible, fair approach to this issue.

One would think a European Citizen should present no threat, if that s the legit reason behind the Ban.

In addition, Iranian Americans are amongst the Educated Elite and make up a nice chunk of the well accomplished in America. SMH … IS it true that Iranian students have priority over Spouses and hardly suffer the Ban? I read that somewhere and made me wonder why such discrimination against the ones who must join families...

1- Who is still waiting from 2017?

2- Is there a spreadsheet or at least stats on Visa issuance after this nightmare?

3- Do Senators/House Reps help?

4- What is the true percentage of who receives this nightmarish form?

Hi,

-I'm waiting since December 2017.

-I don't know but would love to find that out!!!

-Not really. Personally contacted 1 congressman and 2 senators one which was "highly capable of doing things like pulling strings".

-I have no clue...

This is indeed a nightmare!

1- Our first interview was December of 2017 but we didn't get the ds5535 until after our second interview in October 2018

2- There is a spreadsheet here in this thread.  I'm not sure how up to date it is.

3- I have no idea but I'm trying anyway.

4- I don't know the exact percentage but it seems Most get the visa after a period of time.  I have seen very few returned petitions after a ds5535 but it does happen.

I am so sorry that you've had to wait soooo long  😢

Can you think of a reason why your case has taken this long? Red flags? Age difference? Travel outside of his country? Etc?

I doubt there is a reason at all. Cases with huge red flags made it thru, while perfect scenarios have been stuck.

Perhaps, a certain large number must be put on hold indefinitely, while the lucky few go thru. No reason at all.

One thing is certain; Moroccans and Pakistanis champion the Backdoor Ban.

There has to be something, I am sure something triggers it, it can't just be random where cases loaded with red flags get thru and perfect ones are held back.

One reason is no longer there. In Morocco, all natives of certain regions received the Hellish form.

I assure you that there is no legitimate reason and that is the reason behind the lack of transparency.

Reasons could be the color of ones hair, their nose, smell, color etc…. But, trust me nothing to do with security.

A 73 year old grandmother and a 15 year old girl got the Ds-form, while 20 something males who traveled to Turkey

and beyond, much younger than their Fiancees, got thru without the Extreme Vetting. Make sense??? Only hope right now is

a Democrat wins in 2020. Even that win could be far from happening, He will win again, and perhaps change the Constitution to win even a third term and pass presidency to his kids etc…. Scary times here. The man did not lie when he said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and still win. He s gotten away with things beyond imagination.

Just hope and pray that one of the 20 Democrats wins and makes things right.

Not really the place for  a political discussion but....I don't believe that Republican or Democrat would change what is going on at the moment.   Cases were stuck in long AP in 2014 during Obama (a democrat).

I myself am a registered Republican and this whole immigration H E double hockey sticks has not swayed my political party at all.

I may not fully agree with Trump and his antics but he is for now our God appointed leader so out of respect I do my best to support him.

I read through the forum..a lot of the 2017 people have gotten their visa there are a few still waiting.. and it seems like wait time wasn't as long. I have no idea how they process it. But from my own research and understanding, it really depends on the case and the embassy. In cases where more congressional or senatorial inquiries were made and they seemed to care in helping their constituent, i noticed that it did make a slight difference. They may not be able to expedite the process but i feel like it brings more attention to your case.

Hi Sarac9,

How did your fiance submit updated medical? My father in law was requested to do so as well. He is in Karachi. I've read that it needs to be done through American Express? Could you please give some more information? Hope you will be hearing good news soon :)

It doesn't matter how smooth of a man he is, he can not finesse a way into a constitution change, I don't know what the situation is with this DS form but it looks like there's no rhyme or reason.

One VJ member bypassed the Ds Tragedy within 40 days. Hard to believe, but I hope there is something good happening.

Well hopefully things pick up soon and thanks for responding to my replies and not leaving me hanging, some people do that and it's infuriatingly rude lol.

I really wish that things go smoothly for you , I remember your case and what happened, I am still shocked at the fact that you got this form, really hoping for a smooth and fast response for you, inchalah.

Both Republicans and Democrats have the best of interest for all of us. However, it is their struggle for power that leads to a lot of nonsense victimizing many on their way. Money is another Evil and most definitely Lobbying sends People s interests down the drain. Although he is a business man with eyes on $$$$ constantly, I do believe he has some great ideas for the country, but his ways are not right nor correct.
