I heard its taking 3-4 years to clear ds5535 because of backlogs within US itself and least priority is given to foreign immigrant application .

How is it possible when DS-5535 was started sometime from March 2017?  There have been instances recently where people got approval in 7 months and a couple of days ago in 45 days.

If there are any reliable figures, I have never come across them.

Getting longer does make sense due to the significant strain on the system.

Not everyone has to go through it.

But be on a look out. If they require another interview then they will reach out to your husband. Hope things workout for you very soon  and with ease ❤

Not true. They actually reached out to both of us for the second interview. Mostly because they wanted us BOTH at the second one. The embassy in Madrid would not let me go into the embassy with my husband for the first interview. Ironic since I am the US citizen. Luckily, I had a trip planned to Spain this past February. We received the email requesting the second interview the day after Christmas in December.

Hello everyone I couldn’t find some related to my case because my visa type is DV1 and after my interview on NOVEMBER 16th 2018 I been on AP under the 221g until January 31th 2019 my status changed to READY and March 28th I had a call from the embassy Casablanca asking me to fill the DS5535 and they kept my passport during the interview, now I guess that’s because the visa shengan I have on my passport and did mention about me being abroad for work!

I would like to know if that’s bad or good? Visa type Diversity Visa lottery

Some people have their passports kept some do not, if there is a correlation of outcomes I have not come across it, if you need your Passport for work you should have let them know, you can still do so.

Where did you hear that? The form started around May 2017, so there is no question of 3-4 years. Please do not spread fear among the people. There are many reasons for someone to be kept on the AP, usually for incomplete documents or inconveniencing evidences such fake marriages etc. However the DS5535 has only one purpose: that is to screen applicants for any link with terrorism or potential security risks. There are many who received their visas withing 10-13 months. However since the beginning of this year we have seen slow in the process initially because of the government shut down. I personally has been waiting since 15 month for my wife to get cleared. Her interview was in December 2107.

So please let us not to spread false information. No one knows how long this may take, no one in the state department or the consulates talk about that, so any information is merely a guess! I wish everyone the BEST!!!

My husband had his interview this morning and because of the travel ban he was refused and given ds-5535. I had typed up a Word document with all our answers- do you think we can just submit that or that I need to transfer to the actual ds-5535.

If we should put in the actual form is there a pdf that allows us to type in the information or do most people write it out by hand???

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I hope I am wrong, but

is it possible the Ds-5535 is just a "Backdoor Ban"?

Since its introduction, I have monitored websites from Fb pages to VisaJourney.

Only a hand full of cases have received Visas after submitting the form.

Is it possible only a single digit percentage of applicants get thru? only to show the form is not a "Backdoor Ban"?

Again, I hope I am wrong, but numbers are not encouraging. Also, there is Zero Transparency about this Ds form.

Please correct me and for the third time, I hope I am wrong that this might be just a Ban in this mysterious Ds-5535.

I think your thinking is on the right path.
