does your husband redo his medical exam

Thanks for asking mado, he goes on Monday.

He'll leave his passport with the medical office, they'll send it all to the embassy, the embassy will send his passport and package back to him in the mail.

We'll update you all when we can confirm that all of this has happened.

October 2011: Met in Spain

2012-2014: Video chat + visas + visits and vacations = we made it through!

June 2014: Moved to Spain, got engaged

December 31, 2015: got married

April 20, 2016: sent I130 package

May 2, 2016: package received in Chicago Lockbox - - - 12 days for delivery!! Don't use TNT couriers!!

May 2nd or 5th, 2016: email NOA1... accepted and sent to.... NEBRASKA

And now.... breeeeeeathe..... be like water my friend....

October 26th, 2016: NOA2 [We had waited almost 6 months. Received notification from the phone app, never got an email.]

November 9th 2016: USCIS sent the petition to NVC (app notification) [waited 2 weeks after approval for this]

November 25th 2016: NVC received and created account for our petition [waited 16 days after USCIS sent it, for NVC to acknowledge receipt]

Dec 1st 2016: Chose agent online DS261 [a few days later than it could've been since the above NVC email went to SPAM!]

Dec 6th 2016: Case available for paying fees. That was fast, I think! 5 days!

Took a long time to get package out because... life... and husband's family in Morocco had to travel to get police document.

Feb 20th 2017: Scan date at NVC, received weird email.

April 28th 2017: CHECKLIST. Moroccans are required to send a Court Report regardless of Police Record status. My husband had to go back to Morocco to get it in person. Also, NVC wants a 2016 tax return now that is 2017. My bad.

September 15th 2017: 2nd Scan Date at NVC. Sent for document review October 20th.

Nov 10th 2017: Email requesting document be brought to interview. Will schedule interview.

Case complete date??: TBD :clock:.... November 8th!!

Interview date : January 18, 2018!!           Result: Administrative Processing

Embassy called for new medical last week of August. New Medical Sept 10.

Visa ISSUED September 14, 2018.

I don't think we can make many generalizations about how long any of this will take. I think there are a lot of variables.

The only thing we know is whether or not the applicant has been in/lived in any of the countries on the lists... we can't know if his/her name produced a hit, etc...

We also know that this vetting effort is dreadfully understaffed.

I read somewhere that the Embassy that you went to makes the decision to give you the DS-5535 just sometimes based on things you may say or where you were born (like the countries that are on the banned list) they can make the decision to give you the form based on their own feelings or opinions of the person which is unfair.

It doesn't seem to be calculated meaning it's not like there is a list of suspicious names or a database since this was only put into place in 2017. Just seems to be if the person you were interviewed by has a suspicious vibe about you they give you the form.

IMHO, I think that it's not so much of being from a country that is on the banned list but more so people who have traveled outside of their home country perhaps to some of the banned countries that are getting the DS-5535 form, but then who knows why they do it.

I have NEVER travelled anywhere oustide my Country but still i got this DS5535 form. Now what could be the reason? At the time of the interview i was being told that i got the visa. This all is so confusing.

Does anyone know the process to submit updated medicals to Islamabad. My family went to mail them and they told them that they needed a login for ustraveldocs/pk which has me confused because that is a website for people who are going to apply for visas.

What's your visa category. You must have told them that you are from different Visa category. Submit it in their office in your city probably in G-9 I guess.. When was your interview

It could be both. Maybe it just a basic red flag that they look out for.

My husband hasn't been to either of the banned countries and his CEAC status says Issued but than he was given the DS-5535 and told to wait a month or two. It just seems people who are from the banned countries or visited banned countries if they are given DS-5535 take a lot more time to process.

Again I read some where that its the Embassies decision to give you the DS-5535 and they can give you it just based of any vibes that you give off meaning a look they didn't like or something you may have said or something they see in your background that may have raised a red flag to them. Something that they felt warrants more information.

I know that the applicant goes through many background checks so the DS-5535 is more of an inconvenience than anything. This was put into place by Trump in 2017 as "extra vetting" which again doesn't make sense because applicants have already had many back ground checks and if there were really any red flags than it would already have been known.

One lawyer apparently says that some people are put in "constructive denials" where they aren't out right denied but just put into AP an indefinite time. And that's what I'm afraid of because that seems really unfair to just be left without a decision and just be left waiting.

Because it's a Trump administration. They want to keep any non white or non christians out.

I am a naturalized US citizen waiting my Moroccan fiancee's i129f visa. Applied Feb 2017. She has been in AP since Oct 2017

*UPDATE* Fiancee received i-129f visa and returned passport Nov 2018. 411 days of AP.
