One of us in this thread asked to have his passport back and soon afterward the embassy asked for updated ds5535 questions. Could be a coincidence...

So I'm not sure if it doesn't affect the process.

Of course my husband had his passport the entire AP time and he was not asked to update, soooo... 🤔

I already submitted ds5535 at the same interview day.. So do you think it would happen again.. 😒 Nowaysss..

What about your husband case, you were about to redo the medical stage.. Sabrina

Hi Munazza -

This couple also answered the questions right away, I believe the same day. I don't know if it was a coincidence that they were asked for updated answers, but I haven't heard of that happening to anyone else.

Yes thank goodness my husband has his new medical next week!

I'm not sure what they're going to do since he just had one in January but I do know for sure they will take another 325 euros!!

What a business this is.

October 2011: Met in Spain

2012-2014: Video chat + visas + visits and vacations = we made it through!

June 2014: Moved to Spain, got engaged

December 31, 2015: got married

April 20, 2016: sent I130 package

May 2, 2016: package received in Chicago Lockbox - - - 12 days for delivery!! Don't use TNT couriers!!

May 2nd or 5th, 2016: email NOA1... accepted and sent to.... NEBRASKA

And now.... breeeeeeathe..... be like water my friend....

October 26th, 2016: NOA2 [We had waited almost 6 months. Received notification from the phone app, never got an email.]

November 9th 2016: USCIS sent the petition to NVC (app notification) [waited 2 weeks after approval for this]

November 25th 2016: NVC received and created account for our petition [waited 16 days after USCIS sent it, for NVC to acknowledge receipt]

Dec 1st 2016: Chose agent online DS261 [a few days later than it could've been since the above NVC email went to SPAM!]

Dec 6th 2016: Case available for paying fees. That was fast, I think! 5 days!

Took a long time to get package out because... life... and husband's family in Morocco had to travel to get police document.

Feb 20th 2017: Scan date at NVC, received weird email.

April 28th 2017: CHECKLIST. Moroccans are required to send a Court Report regardless of Police Record status. My husband had to go back to Morocco to get it in person. Also, NVC wants a 2016 tax return now that is 2017. My bad.

September 15th 2017: 2nd Scan Date at NVC. Sent for document review October 20th.

Nov 10th 2017: Email requesting document be brought to interview. Will schedule interview.

Case complete date??: TBD :clock:.... November 8th!!

Interview date : January 18, 2018!!           Result: Administrative Processing

Embassy called for new medical last week of August. New Medical Sept 10.

Visa ISSUED September 14, 2018.

I'm not quite clear about the "missing paper" incident but sounds like the reason you waited from February until now is the ds5535. That's what this thread is about and why we are here, waiting for months and months.

Also regarding the denial in December, my understanding is that any 221g administrative processing is a "temporary denial/refusal"... So anyone who gets one is denied the visa UNTIL the necessary actions are taken, either by them or by us.

At any rate, sounds like you're at the end now. So happy for you!

My husband didn't get a 221g and his CEAC status still says Issued. Our lawyer says that's a good thing but idk.

only thing I can rely on is that the woman at the embassy said it would only take a month or two so I'm hoping she was being honest

Someone is visa condor....nd how long the ap took to issue the visa

Seems to vary. Some were only in a AP for 60 days. Some for a few months and some have been waiting for a year and are still waiting. I'm wondering if it depends on which country you're in.

I don't think we can make many generalizations about how long any of this will take. I think there are a lot of variables.

The only thing we know is whether or not the applicant has been in/lived in any of the countries on the lists... we can't know if his/her name produced a hit, etc...

We also know that this vetting effort is dreadfully understaffed.
