My uncle and his family had their interview last year on December 4,2017. Unfortunately they were placed in AP. I received an email today stating to have them resubmit their updated medicals and upon recieving that they will process their case. Now does this mean that they will finally be getting their visas? Any response will be helpful thankyou.

Are they in pakistan? They r lucky, they have got email for new medical exam. My interview was in September last year. It's been a year n still waiting

Ooooo yes that sounds like very good news!  Is that what they said - process your case?

Did they already answer questions from the ds5535 about social media, family,  etc.?

Yes it stated " Once these items have been received, we will process your case". They answered the DS 5535 questions in February of this year. We have been waiting patiently and finally received the email request for new medicals from the family members today.

Yes they were interviewed in Islamabad! They had already made up their minds on denying them their visa because of a missing paper. When my uncle pointed out that the paper she is asking for is in the file. She quickly scratched out what she had written, which was a request for that document and still handed them the document which said that their visa has been denied and they will be placed in AP until documentation and requested information has been recieved. This was extremely unprofessional of them because of the mistake they made, my family ended up having to wait several months.

I'm not quite clear about the "missing paper" incident but sounds like the reason you waited from February until now is the ds5535. That's what this thread is about and why we are here, waiting for months and months.

Also regarding the denial in December, my understanding is that any 221g administrative processing is a "temporary denial/refusal"... So anyone who gets one is denied the visa UNTIL the necessary actions are taken, either by them or by us.

At any rate, sounds like you're at the end now. So happy for you!

October 2011: Met in Spain

2012-2014: Video chat + visas + visits and vacations = we made it through!

October 26th, 2016: NOA2 [We had waited almost 6 months. Received notification from the phone app, never got an email.]

November 9th 2016: USCIS sent the petition to NVC (app notification) [waited 2 weeks after approval for this]

November 25th 2016: NVC received and created account for our petition [waited 16 days after USCIS sent it, for NVC to acknowledge receipt]

Dec 1st 2016: Chose agent online DS261 [a few days later than it could've been since the above NVC email went to SPAM!]

Dec 6th 2016: Case available for paying fees. That was fast, I think! 5 days!

Took a long time to get package out because... life... and husband's family in Morocco had to travel to get police document.

April 28th 2017: CHECKLIST. Moroccans are required to send a Court Report regardless of Police Record status. My husband had to go back to Morocco to get it in person. Also, NVC wants a 2016 tax return now that is 2017. My bad.

September 15th 2017: 2nd Scan Date at NVC. Sent for document review October 20th.

Nov 10th 2017: Email requesting document be brought to interview. Will schedule interview.

Well they handed me the paper without saying I'm denied. It's a temporary thing to give you the slip and put you on AP. Best of luck to them though, seems like this journey is coming to a happy ending.

Do you know if they received the form in a pdf form or just a list of questions to be answered?

It was just a list of questions, nothing fancy like a pdf.

Is it fine if I ask embassy for our passports as we are planning to go for Umrah Alhamdulillah..? I mean it doesn't effect or reason of delay.. Right?

Yes, you may ask for your passports. Email the embassy and see what they require. I took mine and travelled couple months after the beginning of AP. They  it won't affect the process.

One of us in this thread asked to have his passport back and soon afterward the embassy asked for updated ds5535 questions. Could be a coincidence...

So I'm not sure if it doesn't affect the process.

Of course my husband had his passport the entire AP time and he was not asked to update, soooo... 🤔
