Tomorrow we have been waiting 12 months since my husband’s interview.  We turned in the 5535 Aug 2, 2017.

Omg. That’s terrible:( we’ve been waiting for 9 months with no single update. Who is responsible for the years we are losing to be together with our loves ones? Specially the kids apart from their parents....

Ok, We can try this spreadsheet. It might even help us if we have enough data points to get help from ACLU or something... If there are other columns to add, let me know.

PLease do not add personal info as the document is public. Do not edit any other info except your own.

I am a naturalized US citizen waiting my Moroccan fiancee's i129f visa. Applied Feb 2017. She has been in AP since Oct 2017

*UPDATE* Fiancee received i-129f visa and returned passport Nov 2018. 411 days of AP.

Please feel free to add your information to the spreadsheet below. It may help us with extra data points for those under extreme vetting. Please do not add personal info as the document is public. Do not edit any other info except your own.

That is a good question. I missed my son and wife. I kept traveling overseas almost every two month this year I already traveled three times, just returned 10 days ago and will travel next month again

It depends on what type of AP. If you are given the DS 5535, then this is an indefinite process, no one knows how long it take. However if your AP is due to insufficient documentation, then this can be resolved faster after you provide the consulate what they needed from you.

Hello everyone. New member here.

I am an H-1B holder stuck in administrative processing since June 13. Does anyone know if consulates prioritize processing based on visa type? Do certain types of visa (say F1) get top priority? Just curious.

It depends on what type of AP. If you are given the DS 5535, then this is an indefinite process, no one knows how long it take. However if your AP is due to insufficient documentation, then this can be resolved faster after you provide the consulate what they needed from you. No one knows if any type of visa has a priority. The logic says students and scholars on H1B, F1 and J1 should be done faster so that they may join their programs, the logic also says if you are a CR1 applicant a spouse of US citizen should get your visa faster, however nothing make sense now with this DS 5535 form.

Yes, I was emailed DS-5535 two days after my interview, which I completed and emailed back the same day. Now I’m just trying to sit tight and not get too depressed.

Your logic on how cases may be prioritized sounds reasonable. How about updates? Do you know if there is a typical number of updates before the visa is issued? I haven’t had a single one after that dreadful AP email. Not sure what to make of it. Is it possible to have zero updates and go straight from AP to “Issued”?

Wow... I just realized that some of you guys have been waiting for more than a year. I can only imagine the amount of pain that you must be going through. I certainly empathize with you and hope that you hear some good news soon. Keep your heads up people. InshaAllah this will soon be nothing but a bad memory.

I think if you returned the form and met the requirements, you are likely to receive your visa very soon. Your case is very different than what everyone is going through in this group. Almost everyone in this group was served with DS 5535 which is a very bad thing to get. So you are lucky you would likely get the visa sooner (This is my good guess).

Updates do not mean any thing. If you are a scholar your university should contact the consulate. Also your company can follow up on your behalf. My advise is to wait for few days and then contact your employer in the US to ask them to contact the consulate.
