I have been following this thread for a while now as my fiancé is from Iran, but is now a citizen of Norway. He’s been in administrative processing now for 19 months for a visitors visa to see me here in the US. We are waiting for our fiancé visa to be approved and now I’m worried the same thing will happen at his embassy interview, and he’ll be stuck in administrative processing again. I’ve gotten my state representatives involved, but they haven’t been able to do much of anything. I agree, it’s very frustrating. I’m hoping and praying for all of us, that we will soon be able to have our fiancés and spouses home with us soon. ❤️❤️❤️

Hello Jenna. Was he getting updates on his visitors visa? Meaning a last date updated. I have applied for a NIV (E2), they gaved me that DS 5535 since then there is no update. Its been 10 months and everytime i email they say to wait till this AP is finished. Not sure when this will end😔

No updates. Every time he checks, the status has not changed since the date of his interview in 2016. He did not receive the DS 5535. We stopped emailing the embassy for updates a long time ago as they could never give us any more information. My state representatives have been making inquiries for us every 30 days, but they receive the same reply my fiancé does when he contacts them. There doesn’t seem to be much anyone can do once your application falls into AP, unfortunately.

I-129F Sent: 12/29/17

I-129F NOA 1: 1/4/18

I-129F NOA 2: 7/9/18

NVC Received: 7/18/18

Consulate Received: 8/9/18

Packet 3 Received: 8/13/18

Interview Date: 9/20/18

Interview Result: Administrative Processing

*Visitor's visa interview: December 2016, called back by embassy for second interview on same visa application in January 2019 - visitor's visa finally issued May 2019.

*Fiance visa placed in administrative processing September 2018.

*Beneficiary's Country: Norway via Iran.

I hope this long waiting will end for everyone here. Separating families indefinitely without let them know when this will end is just not right, unfair and inhumane!
I urge everyone here to let his or her senator knows about this unfair processing of our family visas.
Please contact your two senators. Let the congress knows. We are American Citizens, law abiding, pay our taxes, and we should be treated fairly. CR1 visa is a legal right. We need to voice our concerns to our senators so that they may take action. Keeping quite will not solve our plight!
Also email ACLU (https://www.aclu.org) at aclupreferences@aclu.org or call them at: 212-549-2500 to let them knows of our problem. Because currently the nation (our country USA) only knows about  DECA, and the boarder children issues. We need to voice our concerns to be heard and have this problem solved for us and the people after us.

Dear all,

Please email this to your two senators. Please address them by their last names: Please edit as it fit.

Dear Senator ………

I am writing to draw your attention to what thousands of US citizens especially from Muslims countries are going through trying to bring their loved ones legally to the country. After completing all requirements, and attending a consulate interviews, and after meeting all requirements; the administration has introduced a new requirement that asking selectively mainly Muslims to fill a form (DS5535). After filling and returning this form by visa applicants (sponsors of their spouses) are kept in dark for approximately 7-12 months without any response or letting them know when this waiting will end. This has resulted in pain and family separation for thousands of these families. I urge you to bring this to the attention of the senate. I request you to ask for a fair, transparent and impartial process. After all these are law abiding American citizens tax payers.

Thank you

We are approaching 8 months never updated on its own unless I ask about the case. It is indeed frustrating and painful that our spouses get treat so badly. We are American citizens, our senators are busy playing politics, but no help. The way DS 5535 is implemented should have been discussed in the congress, but no one seems to bother!

Hi everyone. I think a lot of us are just feeling down about this. As for me, I'm happy to be with my husband this summer but we have to be outside of the US.

Waiting after the 5535 since January.

Keep the faith everyone. Seems like people are waiting for a very long time but eventually they get it.

I still think we should have a spreadsheet to track how long it's taking.

October 2011: Met in Spain

2012-2014: Video chat + visas + visits and vacations = we made it through!

June 2014: Moved to Spain, got engaged

December 31, 2015: got married

April 20, 2016: sent I130 package

May 2, 2016: package received in Chicago Lockbox - - - 12 days for delivery!! Don't use TNT couriers!!

May 2nd or 5th, 2016: email NOA1... accepted and sent to.... NEBRASKA

And now.... breeeeeeathe..... be like water my friend....

October 26th, 2016: NOA2 [We had waited almost 6 months. Received notification from the phone app, never got an email.]

November 9th 2016: USCIS sent the petition to NVC (app notification) [waited 2 weeks after approval for this]

November 25th 2016: NVC received and created account for our petition [waited 16 days after USCIS sent it, for NVC to acknowledge receipt]

Dec 1st 2016: Chose agent online DS261 [a few days later than it could've been since the above NVC email went to SPAM!]

Dec 6th 2016: Case available for paying fees. That was fast, I think! 5 days!

Took a long time to get package out because... life... and husband's family in Morocco had to travel to get police document.

Feb 20th 2017: Scan date at NVC, received weird email.

April 28th 2017: CHECKLIST. Moroccans are required to send a Court Report regardless of Police Record status. My husband had to go back to Morocco to get it in person. Also, NVC wants a 2016 tax return now that is 2017. My bad.

September 15th 2017: 2nd Scan Date at NVC. Sent for document review October 20th.

Nov 10th 2017: Email requesting document be brought to interview. Will schedule interview.

Case complete date??: TBD :clock:.... November 8th!!

Interview date : January 18, 2018!!           Result: Administrative Processing

Embassy called for new medical last week of August. New Medical Sept 10.

Visa ISSUED September 14, 2018.

I contacted my state's senator as you recommended. Hopefully, there is a change for all of us soon. My husband and I are also so frustrated :(

Do we have someone to do a spreadsheet?

Me and my fiance have been waiting in AP since Sept 2017

I am a naturalized US citizen waiting my Moroccan fiancee's i129f visa. Applied Feb 2017. She has been in AP since Oct 2017

*UPDATE* Fiancee received i-129f visa and returned passport Nov 2018. 411 days of AP.

Please feel free to add your information to the spreadsheet below. It may help us with extra data points for those under extreme vetting. Please do not add personal info as the document is public. Do not edit any other info except your own.
