Hello All!

Just a quick summary for the newcomers.

My parents went through an interview on 3rd jan this year..

however my mom didn't get anything but still her visa is pending..

she does have case updates every now and then but no luck so far.

My father is going early May as he can't wait for me mom anymore..

My question is

Does anyone have a chick list of which ducoments he has to take with him to pass immigration smoothly...!?

Did they keep your wife passport. Where is she from? I really have no idea why i was given this form, but i think they are giving this randomly. Did you see any dates update in your case?

They did not keep her passport after the interview. I saw initial update, however when I send them emails they check on her information and it seems there is an update. I think this happen just because someone click on the link of the applicant and not necessarily an update. Her application is currently in Casablanca, Morocco. Believe me, no one knows why we are getting this form!! It doesn't make sense to anyone other than the one who ask for them. All what I can say is that we are in a difficult time, and need to be patient, but also we need to let our (USA) elected leaders knows what we are going through, because they are the only one who can make a difference in this issue. I wish you best of luck!

Just making sure that we are all aware of the reason we are being given this form... just search "what is the DS5535 form for?"

😑😓

I was also thinking that it might be helpful to post some links about how the American government works and is organized, and how we can interact with it - as it is our right to do so!

October 2011: Met in Spain

2012-2014: Video chat + visas + visits and vacations = we made it through!

June 2014: Moved to Spain, got engaged

December 31, 2015: got married

April 20, 2016: sent I130 package

May 2, 2016: package received in Chicago Lockbox - - - 12 days for delivery!! Don't use TNT couriers!!

May 2nd or 5th, 2016: email NOA1... accepted and sent to.... NEBRASKA

And now.... breeeeeeathe..... be like water my friend....

October 26th, 2016: NOA2 [We had waited almost 6 months. Received notification from the phone app, never got an email.]

November 9th 2016: USCIS sent the petition to NVC (app notification) [waited 2 weeks after approval for this]

November 25th 2016: NVC received and created account for our petition [waited 16 days after USCIS sent it, for NVC to acknowledge receipt]

Dec 1st 2016: Chose agent online DS261 [a few days later than it could've been since the above NVC email went to SPAM!]

Dec 6th 2016: Case available for paying fees. That was fast, I think! 5 days!

Took a long time to get package out because... life... and husband's family in Morocco had to travel to get police document.

Feb 20th 2017: Scan date at NVC, received weird email.

April 28th 2017: CHECKLIST. Moroccans are required to send a Court Report regardless of Police Record status. My husband had to go back to Morocco to get it in person. Also, NVC wants a 2016 tax return now that is 2017. My bad.

September 15th 2017: 2nd Scan Date at NVC. Sent for document review October 20th.

Nov 10th 2017: Email requesting document be brought to interview. Will schedule interview.

Case complete date??: TBD :clock:.... November 8th!!

Interview date : January 18, 2018!!           Result: Administrative Processing

Embassy called for new medical last week of August. New Medical Sept 10.

That is a good idea. here is the link for the congress: https://www.congress.gov/

You can look up your state representatives through this link. Any one here who is an American citizen must already know how to seek help and whom to contact in the local government.

I think so its because of the email. As it also happens with me :( I emailed them on 26 march and got reply on 27 march and an update as well. Whereas, I sent them an inquiry on 9th april and they changed the date but I got no reply.. So, sometimes they reply us and sometimes not.. But date gets updated when they check our case status.

I am just curious and have been investigating into why some are taking longer than others and maybe there is a way to help future applicants??!  I am not on the boat yet but I am preparing myself just incase. Is having a FB/twitter/instagram/linkedin and being very active on them might affect the process because they might be looking deeply into it?  Old pictures, old posts, scanning anything that screams red flag.  My fiance just has FB and he rarely posts anything but sport and funny videos. I really don't understand what they are looking for, 3-6 months is a bit extreme unless they are just sitting on their desks not doing their job fast enough.

let me know what type of social media your loved one uses, i think facebook is the big one but maybe having facebook for over 10 years might be the reason of the slow processing.

My fiancé has Facebook, Twitter, and IG, but barely post on any. Actually you can stroll and just look. The amount of cases, may take a while to do, but I don’t think it takes months.

Hi! My fiancé is not a Muslim. We are both Christians. His country is considered a Muslim country because they have Muslims born and living there like we do in the US, but over 60% are Christians. He has never visited any of the banned countries on the list. Only visited Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa to work. I pray I hear something soon as well and everyone in this forum

I had my interview at the US Embassy on February 7th. I'm sparing you the details it's still the same steps payment verification of docs and interview with the consular officer. He asks me the basic questions. At the end he tells me you will receive your passport and your maximum visa in 3 days. I was happy and 2 days later I get an email from the embassy that tells me I have to fill out a form on the DS 5535. I did not know it was what so I saw the form in bulk we ask you to put all your social networks, all your old trips and with what financial means, all the phone numbers that you had, all your e-mail addresses, all the numbers of your old passports. Basically it's to check if you do not represent a threat. Until then I thought it's just a formality since I blame myself and it will not take much time. As the site was buzzing, I sent an email to the embassy asking if they received. The next day the embassy called me to say that they received and they can not answer everyone to say if it came or not and that the procedure can take 1, 2.3 months it do not know it depends. So I looked at the forum http://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=703725 and noticed that others had been waiting for more than 6 months or more and it's not just about immigrant visas but all type of visa the procedure was introduced since May in Washington type on Google you will see this law. So I started to worry and saw another forum http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/637938-form-ds-5535-supplemental-questions-for-visa-applicants/? page = 23 But unlike many people we updated at least 2 times in the week my status. But I was stressed because it took a lot of time for many people. So I decided to stop looking at my status. And Friday the 13th as by chance I look and the status has changed in issued I did not believe it too much I was relieved and happy, Finally. The following Tuesday I received an email regarding the return of my passport and I received it today.
