I-751 Interview now mandatory?

Thanks for passing along what the officer told you! On the one hand, it would make sense if they're tightening down that they would want to interview everyone. On the other hand, on VJ anyway, the vast majority of recent approvals have not reported being interviewed; if this is a new policy, perhaps it takes a while to implement. Or perhaps interview waivers are still the most likely scenario... Who can know with these guys? Anyhow, thanks again for reporting what the officer said.

From my understanding, based on all the information from different sources, I see it as some officers like to intimidate people by saying this kind of stuff. Everyday we get news about approvals on this forum. How many reported interviews? Like one out of hundreds? If delays were caused by the interviews all other service centers would be out of their normal processing times. However, as we can see VSC keeps the same pace as a year or even two years ago. I-751 is not that category which USCIS would want to interview badly. There are other categories that represent higher level of concern such as first time filers and refugees. So it's kinda annoying that from time to time you can hear officers feed us with this BS. It seems sometimes some of them do that because they cannot hold the power in real life, so they do it at work picturing themselves kings of the world.

She called USCIS and spoke to a Tier 2 officer. I was told the same information during my infopass appointment.

And yet I had an interview letter in my hand, and the tier 2 officer on the phone asked me 'are you sure this isn't an old letter, as I can find no record of an interview being scheduled for you'..

 

Trust me man, many of them make it up as they go. Do not take it as gospel.

I get it. I'm just sharing information I'm being told by two different officers in the same field office. Nobody knows what exactly is going on and I'm sure one officer will tell you something different than another officer, even in the same field office. 

 

I had my interview and it was totally random. They asked me very generic questions (where do you live, where did you live previously, when did you get married, whats your SSN?) and thats it. I was in and out within 10 mins.

I have not had an interview or approval and I doubt that I will get an interview or hear anything for a few months. I honestly believe that USCIS does not communicate very well with each other so we can mis-information.

As far as I know, the only chances you will be invited for an interview if you're under divorce waiver or if your AOS interview was waived.

Also, if the evidences that were sent to response on RFE was not enough.

Oh, you are a February 2017 filer. Yes, you will hear from them around May of 2018 unless they speed up.

It sounds reasonable but no one knows what's indeed going on over there. I have read about 2 interviews both for AOS and ROC, about interviews without RFE, etc., and divorce waivers with no interview (few of them on this forum).

I had interview for both AOS and ROC after receiving RFE for ROC. My evidence both for initial filing and RFE were very strong confirmed by two attorneys and even the officer said during the interview "I wish more cases were like this". My I-751 case file was over 1000 pages. Nobody knows what's going on.
