Last time I checked DC has a ban on personal firearms ownership (in defiance of Supreme court rulings). I don't see how lax gun laws explain this shooting or a majority of other shootings that happen in areas with total gun bans. Silly liberal logic. Believing that criminals will follow gun laws despite the fact that they don't follow any other laws. Then when a shooting happens in an area with strict gun laws liberals are quick to blame lax gun laws. How are strict gun laws working out in Chicago the murder capital of the US?

Congressional Baseball Game Will Go On After Shooting

A day after a gunman opened fire on a practice, lawmakers will play ball.

Members of Congress will hold their annual charity baseball game on Thursday night, just one day after a man opened fire on Republican lawmakers as they practiced for the event.

In a briefing to all members, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) announced that the game would be neither canceled nor postponed. Speaking to reporters after his announcement, Rep. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.) said lawmakers received the news with a standing ovation.

“I haven’t seen a moment like that since I’ve been here,” McSally said.

The baseball game is a tradition for lawmakers, taking place at the Washington Nationals’ stadium in Washington, D.C., to raise money for various D.C.-area charities.

Why does this have it's own thread instead of in the thread that's already discussing the shooting?

He was not a registered Democrat, listed as unaffiliated, and he hated Hillary and any Democrat and Republican he felt was responsible for the current state of things. He was said to be a disgruntled ex-Republican at some point in the past which fueled his anger to the extreme. He was a violent man who clearly also loved his guns. In March is when he started firing on his property prompting complaints, and that is also roughly when he took off and fled to Virginia. Perhaps he had been planning it. We'll find out. Like all terrorists he wasn't very bright. A lack of empathy and a lot of hate with an easy access to an object to carry out his nutty objectives.

Obviously all I can do is take a guess just like everyone else, but I don't believe he would have targeted democrats. He joined an FB group called "terminate the republican party" and his social media reveals a passionate hatred for republicans, nothing about dems though. The sign below also gives us a hint as far as his motives go. I think this was an act against the GOP plain and simple.

I have no doubt that by hook or by brook no matter what gun laws existed where this dude would have found a way to do what he did. Absolutely no doubt in my mind.

Must have been a republican before Reagan.  That's a bit of a reach across a few decades.  I have a better and more recent reason for his actions and it is that being violent, loving guns, and popping them off at innocent people pretty much summarizes every weekend night in every democratic lib cesspool stronghold in the country so I agree that this particular individual squarely fits that voting demographic (violent, gun loving lib voter) as well.  I just forgot to add it.  Thanks for bringing it up.

Perhaps but I don't know. I'll say this just once... *some* of the really ardent-bordering-on-crazed-rageful-at-Hillary thing by Bernie supporters applied to Democrats and Republicans equally sometimes. Might be reading into it a little but there's a few things this guy wrote that make me think, he grew disillusioned after the Regan/BushSr years, anger over loss of job to foreign workers, and felt the GOP was no longer something he had faith in due to the whole 1% thing. That anger built each election cycle. There are people that feel like that now.. that the GOP is broken and what's left in it's place is something different.. in the same way they may also feel that way about the DNC. As much as he supposedly supported Democratic causes (and I don't really consider Bernie to be anywhere close to old-style Democrats) he never felt the need to register as one. That's just one sign he's just one of those angry nutty guys you find on both sides of the aisle that don't fit into a political box. I get the sense this was specifically planned in advance for this day and I just can't shake the feeling he may have been planning more than one massacre. It's what someone might do if they feel the whole system is wrong and needs to be burned to the ground. We don't know for sure of course.. the investigation will reveal that.
