One Simple Question: To marry someone in morocco...

I have previously asked this question, but got no direct and clear response!

So here it is again...

I'm Moroccan/American and have "kids" (now in their 20s lol) from a previous marriage. I've ONLY read/found this in one post on this forum, and it mentioned that an American lady took birth certificates of her children to marry someone in Morocco! So please help me clarify this issue...To marry someone in Morocco, do I need my kids birth certificates?!! I have not see this question pop-up in another threads, and I'm almost certain that the answer is NO, but I wanted to double check anyway! As it will be an unnecessary expense and document for me to bring along, if it's really NOT required.

Thank you!

It's two pieces of paper extra to bring, why is that such a concern?

Arent birth certificates like $15 at the courthouse?

And why 2 accounts?

@DeeCSC Thanks m8! Were you the petitioner or beneficiary? You wrote "I know I did need to send copies --I assume you're referring to copies of birth certificates for your kids-- with my I 130". Well, I went over the I-130 (new form) like 5 or 6 times, and I can't find any entry about petitioner's children! It asks about spouses, parents, work history, etc...but nothing about my (being the petitioner) kids! Maybe it was on the old form! Would you care to elaborate why you had sent copies of your kids BCs with your I-130? Thanks Again!

Thank you, but I need a specific answer and it doesn't look like you case is similar to mine. I'm asking if it's required, not if I should take them or not. I respect your opinion, but I need FACTS. Thanks again!

I don't have the facts but if it just means bringing two extra pieces of paper, bring them and if you don't need them its fine. but if you don't bring them, and end up needing them......well, yea.

Can't you contact the Moroccan embassy or consulate? They might help you out with this particular question.

Or...you can do as suggested and bring the certificates anyway?

I know how difficult it is to deal with Moroccan regulations. To get my birth certificate ( born in Morocco) I had to go to three different cities to get all the required stamps to make it official for foreign use. It took me days of traveling and waiting in lines.

But if it's just the birth certificates you are not sure about, save yourself headache and wasting energy and get them.

Good luck with getting everything done.

My Moroccan husband and I married in June of 2014 and I have one child from a previous marriage. We were not asked for my daughter's birth certificate. However, I did present a certified copy of my divorce decree to prove I was legally divorced and the divorce was FINAL. That word was very important to the Moroccan officials so make sure if you have one it says FINAL somewhere. Anyways the decree did state my daughter's name, and her place of birth so it is slightly possible they found what they needed, if they needed it. Though we were never told that was necessary so I do not believe you will be asked for it.

Hi and Salaam alaikum!

To my knowledge you won't need your children's birth certificates in order to get married in Morocco.

You will need your birth certificate and Affidavit of Eligibility to Marry which you can get at the US consulate in Casablanca.

You can get a list from the local court in the city you will marry that lists all paperwork you will need to get married or your fiance can do so -scan it and email it to you - so you have all documents you need before you travel to Morocco.

Alf Mabrook on your impeding marriage.
