Back in the day before the whole social media thing, in my moderating time, when Jones was up and coming, he was hip with kids online. Man those kids got swept in with him quick.... I used to worry about them.. what they'd turn into (well somebody had to worry about those kids... because their parents sure weren't...) and if they'd still be so convinced of his conspiracy theories when they grew up. Now I have the answer... and it's no less disturbing. The problem is the older generation has no clue about the nonsense he peddles... and it's not just him.. others too especially within the fundamentalist community (the rebelling kids would fall for his stuff... hard). Yesterday driving down the road, there was a big sign outside of someone's house (there's a lot of very 'vocal' crazies in this town) talking about FEMA death camps, NATO, UN, Jones, and John Birch. It was then I had to explain to everyone what exactly that sign whackadoo was all about. They were stunned. They always are... It's nonsense stuff and they laugh incredulously, but they just don't understand - it's not just some lone black sheep family member who believes moon landings are fake but a greater movement of people now that believe all manner of crazy things.

 

And that's the thing really parents back in the day and now still don't care what junk is infiltrating their kids online. When it comes down to it, it's not too different from older generation Muslims watching in dismay as they become aware their kids are up to their eyeballs jihadi-propaganda online by the time it's too late. Jones has his right to free speech, it's a shame that certain individuals attempt to give them legitimacy or a platform... but whackadoos even before him were always in with some fundamentalist and political circles attempting to scam their way with some agenda trying to be 'legit'. Kelly is giving Jones a platform to spread his filth to a wider audience. That may be a good thing in showing more people just exactly how nuts he is. But at the same time, there was a day when he could be easily dismissed and relegated to the trash bin where he belongs.... where he should be. This is purely for ratings... and it's disturbing and hurtful to those families.

Generally, I don't really care what she does as I don't watch her.  You could organize a boycott of her sponsors, maybe that would get her to change, or does this sound too much like what Delta and BoA did?

on the other hand, if kelly didn't interview jones - other than the fact that someone else would - jones will spin it that msm is afraid of him and trying to smother 'the truth'. i really do think he needs full exposure (which i was hoping would happen with his custody hearing). i know lots of his followers that were around in the beginning now think that alex is a con, just like his bff trump. his evolution into snake oil salesman and sudden supporter of the evil federal government has not gone over well with those sorts..
