Just want to let everyone knows that is waiting for the GC in the mail.

My card has been sent back as underliverable because there were no name on the mailbox (which is not really common to see over here).

Well make sure you put your name on the mailbox while waiting for the card to be in the mail!

Good luck to those that are waiting!!!!

I have to wait another 30 days until I will get it resend! :crying::crying:

Actually it's very common. Everywhere I have ever lived in the USA over 8 years I've been required to put my name on the mailbox. Where I live right now, USPS refuse to deliver anything to you unless you put your name on the mailbox.

Well make sure you put your name on the mailbox while waiting for the card to be in the mail!

Extremely good advice!!!!!

#######? Ok..the obvious statement would be...'That's just Dumb"

I'll remember that though - we currently have a lock box (neighborhood style) mailbox which has our name inside though... (I'd have a nice sugary talk with the mail man though...so he/she knows me by name and face..always helpful)

For people in the US, another option is to fill out an information card that the USPS has that tells the local office the names of all the individuals at the location who are resident and should receive mail. Our homeowner's association will only allow numbers on the box and no names....

YMMV

well that is what I asked my husband when I learned about the approval, if we need to put the name on the box. The mail will be associated with the house number not with the name. And the locations I have been so far does not have any name on the mail box. And espcially on military bases do not carry names on the mail box.

Our old mailbox at the apartment off-base did not carry any names as well. We were not allowed to put names on it.

We filled out the form for forwarding the mails when we moved and all the other mails has been forwarded so far (also letters from USCIS i.e. with change of adress confirmation, NOA), so I just wonder how come that this letter has not been forwarded. Also I did not receive any welcome letter as well. Hope they did not screw up. :((

Well I learned my lessons.

Hmmmm... I better check on this then as our mailbox does not have our name on it. I have seen a few in the area with names but they're the exception rather than the rule.

(I didn't have any problem receiving any USCIS mail addressed to me.)

FYI: Here are the USCIS instructions where it tells you you need to have your name on the mailbox:

www.uscis.gov/files/article/f_english.pdf

Does anyone know HOW to register your name and address? I was just on the USPS website and I can only find Change of Address, which is not applicable.

Let us know, thanks!

Having just moved from Mississippi to Alabama, I put our names on the box and I hijacked the postal lady and let her know that I expect mail from the USCIS. She will keep an eye out for it, nice gal!

I received my second green card a few days ago (first one had a birthdate error so was returned) and it was delivered to my mailbox which doesnt have my name on it. I guess it just depends on the postman !

Its one of those things. You'll find plenty of cases on this website where people didn't get their EAD/GC cards because of this. Chances are you will be OK. However when the fix is just writing your name on some sticky tape and sticking it on the inside of your mailbox, they why take a chance at all?

Also as Kez says, the name doesn't have to be on the outside. On my mailbox its inside the flip down door of my mailbox (yes, I have one of those classic american style mailboxs!).

Good 'ol duct tape and a Sharpie just worked for me!! I put a smiley face on there too, so hopefully the mailperson gets a kick out of it!
