P.S. I mean that as an insult to the attorney... That's a horrible thing to tell someone in our situation. I'm sorry that happened to you.

I never been a big fan of them anyways but thank you for your input

My attorney assistant and a few other ppl who went through this process

Your best resource for understanding the details of the next steps is right here on Visajourney. Each embassy has a slightly different process and there's 200 or more embassies in the world, and dozens of different visas which each will have slight variations in requirements. Plus, these can and do change.

Even the best attorney in the country doesn't have the time to keep up with all of it. As I said before, use the DR portal here to find some folks who went through K1 in DR recently and see if they'll share the checklist with you or give you tips.

Just little stuff like some embassies require translations others don't. Marriage certificates for CR1 need to be apostilled in some circumstances but not others, and that depends on the embassy. Some will let you get the medical appointment and police clearance *before* the embassy sends you the checklist, others won't. Some (most) allow the finances into the interview, others don't.

The way you get stressed and confused is listening to someone who doesn't have a recent version of your embassy's checklist for your visa type in front of their face at that moment. That's how you waste time and money. The way you shave off time, is taking to someone who knows the most up to date and most specific information possible and those people almost always are people who are just a step or two ahead of you in the process.

For what it's worth, if your attorney told you that you wouldn't be allowed in to the interview, I'd treat everything else he tells you as suspect. Trust but verify. I can only think of a handful of embassies where that is true so they really may not know too much about K1 or DR or either.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview

13 Oct 2015: VISA APPROVED  (236 days from NOA1)

19 Oct 2015: Visa-in-hand

24 Oct 2015: POE !

15 Dec 2015: Fiance's mother's B-2 visa interview: APPROVED! So happy she will be at the wedding!

!

Me too I check I think 50 times a day I'm crazy and still says evidence is received lol unbelievable and it's true who doesn't go through his process has no idea how could u have patients easy to say and my rfe one of what they wanted was wedding preparations so I told the lady at my venue to just write on the contract they will work with a date with me and my fiancé it's hard I want to plan and I can't 😞

It is my understanding that the tracker is not reliably updating  (a lot of people on the February 2017 filers thread have received the NOA2 and it still says "case received") make sure to check your snail mail....that is how everyone is being notified.

My NOA1 date is 2/6....I have not received the NOA2.....

Even after receiving our NOA2 it still took 2 more months to get visa in hand. Yes, you will be cutting it close. We will keep our fingers crossed for you. Good luck!  😊 We have ALL been through this.

It is my understanding that they are not updating electronically (no text, no email, no updates on the website). According to the people on the February 2017 filers.....they are receiving the NOA2 via snail mail....but their case status is still "received the K1 petition" on the tracker....

Really wow so no more on the tracker so I don't have to keep checking that they send it through mail ?? Why are they doing it like this cause every time I check the tracker it just says received for the last 22 days

Snail mail? Looks like I don't know half of the things I can do to track the process. Where do I go to sign up
