K1 Visa and Married but Out-of-Status

Hello VisaJourney

I arrive to the wonderful USA last year on K1 visa. I marry my fiance right away. Two weeks before we marry he lose his great job. He teach the classes as independent contractor. When grant money dry up, so did the program at his work place. 

 

I been here for one year and he has trouble to find job again. He try so hard. He take job at 7-11 and at Lowes to support us. All his money pay for food, house and car. Barely enough. He work day and at night two jobs. He still keep looking for his dream work to teach.

 

Because money he make is spend on house and food to survive, we don't have enough for my AOS. :-(   I am out of status he say. I am very scared for this. Mr Trump will want to take me away.

 

I am very sick now and need doctor but we have no insurance for medical. My BP is 180/127 everyday. Asawa suggest government Medicaid for us but he think I cannot receive because I have no status. I do have social security number. I am very sad about this but I believe we will soon be blessed for our faith and hard work. I don't want to die and have stroke because BP cannot be treated. I am so afraid.

 

What are this options to have medical care for me? Can I still AOS when we have enough money later? Please don't be a judge...I really need your advices and helps.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal.

 

There may be options for you. You can request to have the AOS fees waived due to severe financial hardship. It requires a lot of work and evidence for you to provide. But if you can get it done you can at least move forward with that. 

He can ask friends and family for help with the AOS.

You can look into charity organizations or Churches for support with AOS.

 

As for medical, he is right that you do not qualify for medicaid. However, you can research and seek affordable health care plans. They may not be the best but they will allow you to see a doctor. 

You can also contact free or volunteer medical facilities that provide free healthcare. 

You can contact a local physician or hospital and ask about payment plans for seeing a doctor.

Your BP is extremely high. Some times it can be reduce by proper diet and exercise. Certain foods also contribute to healthy heart.

 

Sometimes it takes a lot of research and resilience but most often solutions can be found. Search Google or some of the affordable healthcare forums to ask questions about getting you treatment.
