K1 Approved!

I got there around 0835 for my 0900 Interview as I had been unable to pay the fee beforehand.

Worrying about a bank being open had bothered me all the way there and eventually I was directed to a branch of Barclays which was some 5 minutes swift walk away on the other side of Oxford street. It says on the door that it opens at 0800, which will be good news for others like me who had still to pay.

By the time I got back to the queue it was 0855 and I could see that I had lost about 20 places (judging from someone who joined the end whilst I was asking where the bank was) in the queue.

(ohhh yes Richi, that is a nice eagle, well worth noticing!)

After going through the next queue for security and walking the long way around the front of the building, I entered the waiting room and was given my number. There were only two immigrant visas in front of me. It seemed to me that there was just one window processing immigrant visas and one available for interviews.

It is quite entertaining for a while watching the numbers and windows on the screen but after about 25 mins with no further immigrant visa numbers being called in wears off!

After about 40 mins I got called. Very efficient and they only wanted a fraction of what I brought with me. Just my passport, receipt for the fee, birth certificate, previous marriage and divorce papers, and the police certificate. I gave them copies of the certificates and all three originals were returned after the interview.

Then I handed over the I134 and the letter from employer, and the house valuation (we used assets to meet the poverty levels) but they didint want proof of ownership, W2s, payslips or anything else. I was then handed the XRay, which of course I REALLY wanted! and was told to sit and wait for the interview.

Again about another 30 or so minutes passed and I was called for the interview. Index fingers were scanned, I swore I had told the whole truth, she asked how we met and whether we had any children, and what they thought.

That was it I was then told to go and pay, so I had to ask like most others if it was approved, and was told as long as I hadn't robbed any banks in the last few weeks!

So there we are, I now wait to get the passport back, and wonder what I'll replace all that stress with over the next few weeks......
