Okay so.. God willing, I am sending my I-130 Petition & other documents to the Chicago Lockbox on Saturday, 06/17

Here is what I am including:

Cover letter, money order for $535, I-130, I-130a, 1 passport photo of myself and 1 passport photo of my husband, my birth certificate, my new social security card (because it is the ONLY legal document that has my new last name on it yet), my marriage certificate and official translation, marriage bona fides paper which is a notarized letter my in-laws created as witnesses to our relationship, 20 pictures of us together and us with family members, copies of airline tickets, and chat logs.

Can someone please tell me if there is something I am missing????

Thank you in advance

Ashley

Are you planning to send originals or copies? (Birth Cert, Marriage Cert, Social Security)

Others might correct me here but i'm sure that you should only send copies with the I-130 petition. Keep the originals for the consulate interview.

I filed under the previous versions of the forms (a few days before the new forms were issued).  So my info may be out of date.

I submitted:

  • Forms (I-130, G325a) - these are the old forms, i think its now I-130 and I-130a)
  • Check for $525 (not sure if fee has changed since)
  • Cover letter explaining contents of application
  • Passport photos of Beneficiary and Petitioner, names written on back of each photo
  • Proof of citizenship by petitioner (we used passport pages)
  • Marriage cert
  • Birth cert for our son
  • Certificate of title for our family home (proof of joint ownership of property)
  • Bank statements showing co-mingled finances
  • Photos - with each photo was a description, location, who is in photo, date.

All were copies :)

Still waiting to hear on approval, prob September before the file is even looked at. (based on VJ timeframes)

Hope this helps :)

I basically sent everything that TarKenkari sent except I sent TWO photos of my husband and I with our full names written on the back and also husbands alien number. Did you fill out the G-1145 to receive text/email notification? Put that on top. I can honestly say that I double, triple, quadruple checked my documents and I still felt like I was missing something but when the time came, I said a prayer and mailed it out and sweated bullets until my husband sent me the text notification. Good luck to you!

That's a good idea to send two passport photos! I'll do that just incase. & Yes I'm sending the G-1145. It's expired? But I'm sending it anyway.

Yes, my G-1145 was expired as well but still received notification. I sent two photos of each because I noted that in the I-130 instructions : see below

("You must submit two identical color passport-style photographs of yourself and your spouse (if he or she is in the United States) taken within 30 days of filing this petition.  The photos must have a white to off-white background, be printed on thin paper with a glossy finish, and be unmounted and unretouched.Form I-130 Instructions   02/27/17   N Page 7 of 12")

Also made all copies in colour and do not forget to sign the document.

Thank you so much for pointing that out for me. Life saver, seriously. I'm going to go over every little thing tomorrow on my off day from work to ensure everything is perfect. Have you heard anything back at all?

Only the NOA1 which is receipt to confirm that USCIS has received our paperwork and it gives you your priority date. The text and e-mail came the same day and time so I figure its automated. The hardcopy came in the mail a few days later and just asked that you confirm that names and dob are correct for both husband and wife. It's a pretty frustrating process, this whole immigration thing; definitely learning patience. So be prepared.
