If I am reading this correctly, there were more than one million I-130 petitions pending at the end of March 2017.....OMG!!!!!

Yes, so it makes more sense that they processed any application type for almost a year. They need extra man power to process all of the applications.

Exactly!!!   They are clearly overwhelmed by the volume. Since each petition must be scrutinized by human eyes, I don't know of any way to speed up the process other than an extremely huge increase in staff.

Yup...there's definitely been an uptick recently. They're taking in around a quarter million I-130s alone every quarter, and complete processing around 150,000 in the same time period. That's not sustainable for long and I predict the processing times to grow again like they were years ago.

 

On the plus sided, maybe K-3s may become relevant again?
