OP, you only have to file taxes if you make above the threshold. If you're married, filing separately, that treshold is $4,050. If you're married, filing jointly, that treshold is $20,700. 

 

Remember that if you're a US resident any part of the year, you also need to declare your foreign income, even if you can do the foreign exclusion.

You can file a divorce just make sure before you do you have compiled all documents of proof of sharing a married life and if proof that she is abusing you. (It might come handy in the future to protect yourself)

Be patient more? She is trying to get him kicked out of the country and if she is really an alcoholic that is not a good situation.  One she can hurt him when she is drunk or 2 she can hurt herself and say she did it.  Obviously, it's not a good situation and if what OP is saying is true he needs to leave the house because she can cause major trouble for him.  No one should be patient when they are being treated like garbage. Not to mention he doesn't need her.
