B2 Visa Ever issued for Girlfriend/Boyfirend Visit Purpose?????

Does anyone know of anyone who got issued a tourist visa for the purpose of visiting a boyfriend/girlfriend? I haven't heard of any in this forum yet.

It's usually on a case by case basis. Depends on where you are from and how you can prove ties to your home country to ensure to the embassy that you won't stay in the US but will definitely go home after your visit.

I'm sure it has happened. The problem is the tourist needs to prove they'll go back. If you're in a relationship that's a bit harder to prove, you'd need a job, house, and savings too. 

 

One of the biggest issues is people going over and then getting married. So, obviously it's a little harder to prove you'll go back if you're not already married. 

 

It's not impossible, you just need lots of ties to home.

Yes. Many people have received a tourist visa with a US-based boyfriend/girlfriend. However, it does set a higher bar to proved ties to return home. the CO will very likely ask for the purpose of visiting, and you must be honest with them. Ghana is an extremely difficult embassy, though...65.7% refusal rate for a tourist visa last fiscal year. It's possible, and if you have the funds to give it a shot then I say try, but be ready for a refusal.

As an alternative, maybe you guys can consider meeting in a third location That way you can still start gathering evidence if you guys have plans to go down the K-1 path in the future.

I haven't come across many threads on this topic.. probably due to the fact that it's extremely difficult to get a tourist visa for any reason.

You're not looking hard enough. There's hundreds if not thousands of boyfriend/girlfriend tourist visa threads.

I understand there's many tourist visa threads in general but I was actually referring to tourist visa threads relating to Ghana specifically...just forgot to mention Ghana in my post..

My husband received a tourist visa to visit me before we got marred and his sister later received one to come to our wedding in the states. It's difficult, but possible. They both had significant ties to Turkey, though. He was enrolled in a Masters degree and his sister has a full time job, husband and child in Turkey.

Many people apply to visit their boyfriends/girlfriends in the US. Most are refused, or so it seems. At least once a week on VJ someone posts about wanting to get a tourist visa for their boy/girlfriend. Ghana is a tough embassy for K-1's and even CR-1's, so I'm just going to assuming it's tough to get a tourist visa in Ghana as well.

I got a tourist visa last March 2016. My purpose of travel was to visit my boyfriend. The consul just asked for my job and monthly income in the Philippines. She saw my travel history from my passport. She asked basic questions about our relationship. It went well. The consul just warned me not to marry my boyfriend in the US using a tourist visa.I travelled there twice last year. We filed K1 visa while I was still there last November 2016 and went back to the Philippines the following month.
