Nice----I just completed my biometrics today, so don't have the estimated interview portion yet...but it's saying mine will take 5 months till case completion (I filed June 14th)

I am not sure how reliable the estimates are. I filed this past Monday on August 7th. My local office is Oklahoma City. I checked the estimated time of completion today and it first showed July 2018, 11 months from now. I checked again after an hour and the estimated time changed to August 2018, 12 months from now. How can the estimated time change for a month just in an hour?

OK  this is weird. This morning my projected finish time was Dec 2017, now it is May 2018. Something isn't right

So I played around with the questionnaire. Looks like you can't apply online if you are applying within 90 days prior to your legal permanent residence anniversary. So that explains it. Anyway, I sent my application today via mail.

this is very interesting and useful finding...good to know about that. ..so, paper filing gives you 3 months early filing, while online doesn't

So is it not worth it to file online?

Fortunately, this does not seem to hold true.

Several of us have found that the questionnaire may say you're not eligible exactly 90 days before the anniversary date because of a weird time lag in the system, and the "cutoff" dates in the questionnaire are slightly behind where they should be, calendar-wise. But they can and do move up, so check again in a week or two and it'll most likely say you're eligible. And there's an option to skip the questionnaire and go straight to the application, too.

A quick look at the July 2017 N-400 filers thread shows that six people have submitted applications online with 3-year GC anniversaries coming up in October, so somewhere near the beginning of their 90-day windows.

Not true at all. I filed 90 days prior to my 3 year anniversary

Hi All,

I'll have been residing in the US for 2 years and 9 month when I plan to apply for N-400 (on 9/2/2017). I know USCIS asks that we submit joint tax return document for the past three years as one of the additional documents. However, I only have 2 tax return receipts for 2015 and 2016. What should I do? Also, my I-751 is still pending for approval. I submitted my I-751 in September 2016 to VSC.

Also, on online filing platform, it mentions that I only need to submit 2 required documents: (1) front&back copy of my LPR card and (2) marriage certificate. While other additional evidences can be submitted in person later (I guess during an interview), I wonder if there will be any negative consequences if ONLY attached the only 2 documents they require for the moment. I'm currently traveling in Africa and will be back after my filing date/window opens.

Can anyone advise me, please? Thank you very much.

If the website states you only have to attach the 2 required documents....and you attach the 2 required documents...I'm confused why you think there would be negative consequences to doing exactly what they ask?  Some people attach additional evidence, some don't--just comes down to personal choice.

So long as you upload at least the required ones during your online submission, you will be fine.

Personally, I believe in front-loading an application...basically mean giving them everything I would be bringing originals of to the interview that would be relevant to my application.  I uploaded the required documents plus a scan of my State ID (to further show residence proof), and my passport bio page (to make it easier for them when verifying my travel dates and to show a match on the photo, birthdate, country and name on my GC).

Question about ROC and Naturalization. If my wife submits her N-400 and the two files get merged (I-751 and N-400), does that mean we'll still be able to get the whole process done in the 7-8 months its been taking lately? Or is that processing time for people who already have the renewed green card in hand?

I submitted and paid my N-400 online today.  But I didn't received any receipt # or case #.  I also do not see any cases on my account. They already charged my credit card. I called the USCIS, and the agent said that I will receive the Receipt # via postal mail.  Does anybody here had the same experience?  Thanks!

I thought you will have the Case number or receipt # right after you submitted the N-400 online.

There can be a delay of 24-48 hours for notices to be uploaded onto your account.  I filed mine on a Friday and didn't get the receipt notice showing online until Monday morning.
