You dont need to worry...Coz if you weren't eligible then the system shouldn't have let you file online at 1:30 AM, I did same as you...lot of people do that to get their files processed fast,

Another thing this is not I-130 that they go by Priority date, They go by the date you are eligible to file and you did on that date exactly...doesn't matter if it was 1:00 or 2:00 in morning. The important thing is the date and everyone knows that after 12:00 the day changes, you receipt date is important.

And if you weren't eligible then they would have denied your application within 24 hours of filing declining your fees. Lot of members here have done exactly same thing to save time.

So relax and wait for your Biometrics now.

Good Luck

Hi m@istar,

Perhaps you can comment on my case as well:

I had the same issue too. My priority date is one day earlier than received date. I filed exactly on the first day of eligibility. I used USCIS online calculator and even verified the date with N-400 online application portal. So when I saw the issue I called customer care to figure out what is going on. Apparently, I was told that USCIS goes by received date when it comes to decision making. So relax and finish processing on your end on time.

A few different things here.

Obviously you cannot file before you become eligible, and if you do so you would likely be denied.

When filing through the mail, the easiest way to do this is not to send it until the day before you become eligible (under USCIS' own filing calculator) because it will take at least one day to get there and probably longer.

In my case, since I filed online, it does say that my application was received on 3rd January, but for whatever reason they listed 2nd January as the priority date. Since Dallas is backlogged as all hell then I've not had any movement in my case since 9th January when I did my biometrics. So I guess I'll find out, but I think I'm going to be ok, on this issue at least.

You will be ok.

One thing I noticed when I was filing for my N400, is that almost all of the members filing online the same month as me (and including me) reported they also had their priority date backdated by 1 day, for whatever reason..so it may just be something in the online system that backdates the priority date automatically by 1 day.  The main thing is that your case shows the application was received on the proper date in conjunction with the issue date on your green card.

Hi, guys!

I'm about to start filing N-400 online, finally  but there is one thing that concerns me :

It looks like my local Office works pretty good, so far,  and I could have an interview in  5-6 months from the date of submission.

Thing is I will be out of the country in the end of April-beginning of May of 2019 and if I file N-400 now, there is a big chance my N-400 interview could be at the same time.

My question is - if my interview is scheduled while I'm gone, is there an option, when filing N-400 online, to reschedule that through myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov ? Or I would still have to do that by mail?

Any advises would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

There is the option of rescheduling for biometrics, interview and oath.

USCIS requires you request rescheduling through mailing back a copy of the interview/biometrics/oath letter with a written request along with an explanation.

You do not need to have an emergency only as the reason---if you are aware of upcoming travels, etc. you can request rescheduling for that reason as well.

Naturally, if you can postpone your travel plans, that's always the wiser choice.

Read the question of OP again.. He asked whether there is an option of rescheduling within his online USCIS account to which I answered 'No'. My other part of the response was inaccurate as yes, you can ask for rescheduling if you are traveling or for other valid purposes...

I did read the question---and your response :)

The reason I spoke about there being a possibility of it, is to clarify there was--- as your response was not worded to include "online USCIS account" but rather more in a general sense of there being no possibility at all.  I didn't want to leave the OP with the feeling that it was impossible altogether, that's the only reason I included the first part.

The third part of my response is still in agreement with you---always better to postpone the travel plans, or postpone the application, if one can.

Thank you for your reply!

Well, my trip is a must and can not be canceled.. At the same time I'm not a big  fan of any re-scheduling things during immigration process.

So now I'm just trying to figure out what would be the "perfect timing" to file my N-400, if there is a "perfect one" ;)

On the  USCIS website it indicates 5-16 months to process N-400 for my local Office. My friend just went through naturalization, along with her daughter, and in both cases it was around 6-7 months - despite the fact they filed at different time, even different years (mother - under 3 years, daughter - 5 years). that makes me think  the Office tends to make a decision on N-400 within  shortest time.

I've thought, maybe, if N-400 now can be filed on-line, then, probably, there would be an option to re-schedule things through the account. But since there is none...And if  an Interview or other Notice shows up in the mail when I'm gone, nobody will be able to re-schedule anything, but  me....

Well,  I guess,  it would be really a wise thing to do -  to wait a little bit and file for N-400 sometime in the end of January ...

thank you again for your input!

I am a she :)

But anyway - thanks for your reply!!! I agree with filing for N-400 a little bit later, and  that's what I'm trying to do now - to figure out when would be the right time for me to file - don't really want to re-schedule anything. Although life happens and sometimes there is nothing you can do but to re-schedule an appointment...

P.S. Have never thought that quick processing time could be an issue ;) :) Oh, well.

You've waited this long to become a citizen---what's a few more months? So look at it that way ;)

Best of luck with your filing when you begin---and keep in mind that anything can happen, especially the unexpected.  When I filed online in June 2017, my estimated case completion time was set at 18 months...in reality, it took only 96 calendar days from filing to oath.  Pleasantly shocked me, as NY is notoriously backlogged as well.

Well, seems like there is no "perfect timing"  for me to file N-400 neither now, nor in January.  And it would be really the best -  just to wait it out until I come back in May.
