Filing N400 online, anyone?

Hello, While trying to file online in the eligibility questions, it is asking whether I had a green card between 10/17/2012 - 10/17/2014. i have my dates on my card as card issued 10/22/2014. Using the calculator tool for filing the naturalization, it gives me the correct date for of 07/27/2017 as being eligible to apply for naturalization which is exactly 90 days before 3 years being a permanent resident married to a US citizen..

When i proceed with neither of these apply and finish the questionnaire , it says you are not eligible to file for naturalization at this moment.

So my question is does the date requirement change as days go by. Since the questionnaire showed today as green card issued date requirement as dates between 10/17/2012 to 10/17/2014.

So if i give it  a few days ( 5 days) will the dates change to my requirements which is whether i had a green card between 10/22/2012-10/22/2014.

And second question is since i am already eligible for the filing of naturalization based on married to us citizen for 3 years and having been Green card holder for 2 years and 9 months. should i just disregard the questionnaire eligibility and file anyways the N-400 online, as they do give an option to skip the eligibility questionnaire.

BTW i have not received my 10 yr green card and the i-751 is still in process but since i am eligible to file the N-400 application ( based on 2 years and 9 months as a permanent resident, i would like to proceed and file the N-400 online.

thank you to all.

Yes, but I have heard from others that there can be a 1-2 day lag on this.

Up to you whether you want to try that or not.  USCIS, when processing your application, is going to go by the actual date shown in your uploaded green card document, and compare that to the actual date the application was filed online, so personally I don't think it should be an issue.  It is your call, though.

Hi, I had the same issues as you as my GC card is 10/18/14. I waited for a week and it still has not moved. I decided to just skip the whole thing and went to N400 online application (you have that option when you first started). I think as long as the USCIS filing calculator shows you are eligible, just go ahead and apply. Make sure when you attach the docs, the file name does not contain coma or period, or other symbols. The max file is 6 mb.

I applied last Wednesday and am currently waiting for my fp appointment letter to arrive in the mail. I am glad I filed online.

Good luck to you!

ARDallas,

Would you please be so kind to let us know whether they do continue processing your application with the bypass of their "date" system.

It only seems logical that if you are within the filing window, you can then go ahead and apply online, however, with USCIS, you can never really know!

Please keep us posted and best wishes for a speedy processing!

For above question. I had the same kind of issue but I continued selecting Yes to between dates. Anyways after you enter the GC data online application calculate the your eligibility including early filing. If you are good it won't show any error otherwise it will show wait until eligibility date and they suggest the date below. So if the application allows without any issues you are good to go. This is based on my experience I got NOA also biometrics scheduled.

I filed my application today but I don't see any link to download the NOA. My credit card was charged and I see a receipt number. When I check the case status on USCIS website using the receipt number I get a message like " we received your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number *******, and mailed you a receipt notice. "     Will I have to wait for a NOA link? Also, does it mean my application was accepted?

Congrats on filing! I think we had to wait a day or two before we could see the NOA online; it's not instantaneous, but it's certainly faster than waiting on a paper notice only.

It means your application was submitted properly, not necessarily accepted by USCIS for processing, although this is most likely :)

The NOA can take a couple of days to show up online---sometimes depends on whether you filed late at night outside of normal business hours, or on a Friday before a weekend.  For example, I filed mine online on a Friday night and didn't have the NOA show up until early Monday morning.

For those who have filed the N400 online---check your ELIS case status...some people are reporting they are now receiving a green highlighted message projected case completion dates for online filers.  I am able to see mine and it projects completion by January 2018 (I filed in June 2017)
