She's permanently living abroad while still in possession of a GC you mean?  Or she is living abroad temporarily with an approved re-entry permit?

If she has a re-entry permit, you would use her US address since that is (presumably) her main domicile.

Also, are you applying under the 3 year rule or the 5 year rule?

Yes. She's permanently living abroad with her green card and she's been there since we had our green card. I am applying under 5 year rule. Do you think it may affect my application with this case?

dont think you can file n-400 under 3 years rule

if filing under 5 years rule, then you will have to calculate how many days she has been out off the states

I am filing for myself under the 5-year rule. I am just confused with my current situation as I always claim her on my income tax as my dependent but living abroad.

Her permanently living abroad with a green card means she's not using the green card as intended....if she never had an approved re-entry permit before leaving the US, and depending on how long she's been residing out of the States already, she will have abandoned her residency and will experience difficulty the next time she tries to enter the US with it.

No, her status will not affect your N400 application.  Although at some point during your interview, your living arrangements may come up if the IO asks about your spouse.

Since you are filing under the 5-year rule, your marital status is irrelevant in the process.

You claiming her as a dependent while she is living abroad is a separate tax issue.  Presumably your/her situation meets the IRS criteria for claiming her as a dependent when she is not permanently residing with you.

Hi Gc@Gc, when we file online Once we submit application can we see what answer we submitted or can we download form with our answers? because at the time of interview we need to remember all question / answer for n-400 form so its better if we have copy of whole form.

you will be able to see what information/answers you entered, and you can view n-400 before and after you filed. please note there might be some discrepancies between what you entered and what shows up on n-400. it seems the online filing system does always properly transfer information to n-400

So as I am reviewing the N-400 its asking for time spent outside the U.S. in the last 5 years. I think no problem I'll just look at my 2 most recent Canadian passports. Nope. No stamps! It would have only been land crossing's to Canada ( I think twice for a few days each). How do I go about getting exact dates?

I was in the same situation as you as Canadians rarely get their passports stamped.

All of my travel dates were approximate years and months to the best of my memory/ability, and I attached an explanation stating how I had no passport stamps to rely on, and approximations were in good faith, country traveled to in past 5 years was only Canada, etc.

I figured if USCIS wants to, they can (and probably did) confirm my travel through their own databases.

Just answer the questions truthfully,  that's all.  You know your personal situation best.

Again, since you are applying under the 5 year rule, you won't be asked to enter in any info regarding your wife/marriage in the online application.
