Filing N400 online, anyone?

has anyone of you double checked your N-400 before submitting the form? (you can print your n-400 while you review it)

i noticed some problems, for example:

--   online data seems not transfer to the n-400; let's say you checked to have your name change, but the form n-400 check "no", but still keep the new name you want to have on the form

--   nationality was picked online, but it didnt get to transfer to the n-400 form

--   i registered two accounts on dhs.gov,  but two accounts have different layouts/interface on evidence section, for the same file names with "_" (underscore),  one account allows you to upload,  the other account doesnt

If you have already submitted your from and see that there are some errors in your application, use this link to file a service request for typo errors -> https://egov.uscis.gov/e-Request/Intro.do

are you sure what that is for?

i think one can only correct the errors at the interview

This seems to be a serious problem. I made a test run and filled an application online, then at the end I chose to download the snapshot which is a standard n-400 filled with what was entered online, and there were many errors in it. For example I chose to change my name, entered a new name, but in the n-400 snapshot the "do you want to change your name" boxes were unmarked. Several such errors exist in that snapshot. Of course I did not submit that test application and deleted it after reaching that preview snapshot.

it feels like they're updating the server or the forms or both.   i noticed after my draft was deleted, when i filed it back again i noticed that certain sections i can't add certain characters example is a comma.   e.g country 1, country 2 instead i had to do country 1 and country 2

Hi Everyone,

Not sure where to ask, but we were a little late in applying for citizenship for my wife. She's a permanent resident "Green Card" (10 years) which expires in January 2019. However, her citizenship status has an estimate of March 2019 for completion. Do we need to extend her Green Card? It just seems like a lot of money for 3 months (barring any issues)?

Thanks for your help!

If you don't plan to travel outside of US, you don't need to renew.... Expired green card doesn't mean you are out of your permanent resident status... If you do plan to travel during that time, you will need a non-expired green card! So you will have to renew!

Just to clarify this statement for @Motorcity0214----you CAN travel even though your physical green card has expired---you do NOT need to get this renewed---so long as you get an i-551 stamp (which is done for free through an infopass appointment) in your foreign passport, which gives you proof of status for up to one year and allows you to travel/re-enter the US just as an unexpired greencard would.

Keep in mind, if you wait until AFTER your green card is expired to get this stamp---they will then tell you to renew the GC and pay the fee.  So you'll want to make sure you get the stamp before then if your card is ready to expire.

I would encourage you to get the stamp in your passport (BEFORE the green card expires so there is no fee) as a precaution incase you do end up having to travel for emergency purposes----things happen, you never know....

I did the e-filing, and from the day I filed to the day of my naturalization was just over 3 and a half months. Speedy.

Same here. Applied online on 9th Feb 2017 and my citizenship ceremony was on April 18th 2017 - 68 days start to finish. Congratulations.

My husband just filed his N400 online today, our I751 has been pending for exactly 1 year today. Our local office works a lot faster, his original green card took just about 4 months to be approved and receive card so I'm hoping the N400 goes at least faster than the I751 is. Good luck everyone!

Hi GC@GC, Thanks for information. Are they asking account number only? can i pay from my family member bank account or its should be my account only?

I have one more question its asking me to provide travel information for last 5 year but i am apply based on 3 year and i never been outside US after getting greencard. but i came usa in 2013 and just stay here for 3-4 month on student visa and return back to home country so do i have to mentioned that i make trip out side usa and it was 2 year long?

The travel history is in regards to any travel outside of the US since becoming a LPR.

The 2013 travel when you were on a student visa is irrelevant for this question.
