Filing N400 online, anyone?

There is no reason to not file online if you are eligible. 

Thanks for your reply. That sounds great if doing so I could reduce the processing time. I'm a little bit nervous about the part I have to upload documents. Like the supporting documents, do I have to scan them all and upload them? I know based on your situation you have to submit bunch of different documents, so I'm thinking you can upload documents as much as you like? And also about the form N-400 itself, do I have to fill out the PDF version and upload it? The same version that you can print and mail ? I'd appreciate your help.^_^

I had the same issue too. My priority date is one day earlier than received date. I filed exactly on the first day of eligibility. I used USCIS online calculator and even verified the date with N-400

that's odd. I am applying within 90 days, I answered the questions and was able to proceed. Paid the fee and was issued a case number,

Yes you'll need to scan your documents to upload.
 

No, you don't fill out a PDF - you fill out the forms on a web page.

When you start the online application it will ask you a couple questions. Unless you have some strange circumstances you should be fine.

When you file online, you are filling out the application online and then submitting that along with uploads of your evidence at the end.  The system takes you through the application step by step and then prompts you to upload the required evidence they need based on how you've filled it out.  It then sends you to a different webpage where you submit payment via credit card.

Good afternoon!

 

I wanted to share my experience to all of you, because this thread helped me a lot!

I filed my N-400 application online on August 11, 2017.  

September 7, 2017- Biometrics

December 13, 2017- Test & Interview

 

The IO who interviewed me for my 1st green card was the same officer who interviewed me yesterday. He is nice and professional. He asked me 6 questions which I was able to provide the correct answers. Thus, he did not ask me the 7th-10th questions anymore. He asked me to write 1 English sentence that he dictated. He also asked me to read 1 English sentence. The interview took about 45 minutes.

 

I told him that my I-751 is still in pending. He said, "that's weird". Then, he checked in their system, and said, "I will approve it now".

Wow that's about three months from biometrics to interview! The Denver CO seems like it's having as slow of a time as the Seattle FO so this gives me a lot of hope. Thanks!

Huh. Weird! I guess it could have been something to do with my browser? I wouldn't have expected that to cause something like that though (maybe I even tried a different browser - can't remember now).

Removal of Conditions:

2016-09-27: I-751 removal of conditions petition sent (with fee waiver request)

2016-09-30: I-751 petition delivered to California Service Center

2016-11-01: Informed in USCIS customer service call that they had no record of receiving our petition, but that it might still be languishing somewhere in fee waiver limbo

2016-11-01: Filed I-751 again, this time with payment check instead of fee waiver request (sent Priority Express)

2016-11-03: Date on I-797 Notice of Action (received 11/7)

2016-11-09: USCIS mailed out denial of our original fee waiver request, with denial letter dated 2016-11-02

2016-11-19: Biometrics appointment notice issued, for 2016-12-07 appointment

2016-11-26: Second biometrics appointment notice issue, for 2016-12-16 appointment (see this thread)

2016-12-07: Biometrics appointment. Allowed to complete biometrics despite mix-up on their end (again see this thread), but some people had to come back for second appointment date.

2018-05-01: Notice that our case was transferred to National Benefits Center in Lee's Summit, MO

2018-06-11: Approved after N-400 interview in Portland, OR (they seemed to be waiting for that before bothering with it)

 

Citizenship:

2017-12-11: N-400 Application for Naturalization submitted online while still waiting to hear back on I-751, received same day

2017-12-15: Biometrics notice

2018-01-04: Biometrics completed, on appointment date (Portland, OR)

2018-02-28: Interview scheduled for April 12 in Portland, OR

2018-03-01 (approximate): We sent in a letter requesting that the interview be rescheduled to after June 8, due to combination of work and family travel plans

2018-03-07: Notice that our April 12 interviewed had been "canceled" (pending rescheduling, but the letter didn't actually say that; officer at InfoPass later explained that interviews aren't scheduled until five or six weeks before the interview date, so they were waiting until closer to our requested rescheduling window)

2018-05-03: New interview scheduled for June 11.

2018-06-11: Citizenship interview - approved!

Hi All,

 

We decided to file online, and currently filling up the form, but the residency history is asking for five years. I am applying under the 3 year rule. I'm Permanent Residence since 3/2014. How do I fill this up?

Just do it for 5. It doesn't make any difference.

I only put the time-frame relevant to my submission type (filing under 3-year marriage rule). Anything else is irrelevant for the specific purpose of residence history.

F-1 Visa: Academic years 2007/2010.

K-1 Visa: I-129F sent Aug 2013; Approved Jan 2014.

Green Card: AOS sent Feb 2014; Approved Jan 2015.

Removal of Conditions: I-751 sent Nov 2016; Approved Apr 2018.

US Citizenship: Application sent Nov 2017; Fingerprints Nov 2017; Civics/English exam March 2018; Oath May 2018.

How about for evidence like Bank Statements, mortgage statement? Can we submit recent 4 months? or random months? I don't want to bombard them with lots of documents since we just filed our Removal of Condition a year ago.

Whatever it asks for is always the safe bet.
