This may sound repetitive as I replied using this info in an above quoted post BUT...

I applied for roc nov 2016. And now for the n400.

If my extension letter expires, do I have to do anything?

Thanks!!!! :)

From what I am reading, if you do not plan to travel internationally, you don't need to do anything. You can get the I-551 stamp in your passport if you do plan to travel, but it is not required otherwise. I guess just hold tight and wait....good luck :)

From what I've heard of others with a pending ROC, they only get the one standardized N400 interview letter.  According to what I've read here, the spouse is expected to attend the ROC portion of the interview, and then they are asked to leave the room when it comes time to adjudicate the N400.

I would suggest you accompany your wife and at least wait in the waiting room incase you are called upon by the IO.

So even though I'm not named on the letter they'll let me into the interview waiting area? Seems strange, but ok. Do people usually bring more mounds of evidence, from what you've seen? Or should the first mound we sent with the ROC application have been transferred from CSC the field office?

Tricky to find and I wouldn't have found it on the USCIS website if it weren't for finding this topic. I recommend you read this thread as it provides information needed to apply online.

Good luck!

Got it! thanks you all for showing me the path!

You can bring anyone you want into the waiting area...they just can't always go into the actual interview room.  People bring their spouses/children/babies all the time.

Thank you very much! When did u apply for ROC and when did it get approved if you don't mind me asking?

I applied nov 2016 and still pending.... last thing I did was biometrics and been waiting since...

I applied for ROC September 20, 2016 (NOA receipt date) and got approved October 13, 2017. I applied through Vermont service center, they move much faster than CSC. If you are November CSC filer, you most probably will be approved no earlier than February-March next year. However since you already applied for N400, you likely won't here about your ROC up until your N400 interview where they will adjudicate both ROC and N400 simultaneously.

I have no experience with double ROC/N400 interview, but I would assume your ROC file (with all the evidences and such) should be transferred from Service Center to the field office.

Saying all that, I would advise you to bring copies of all evidences you sent for ROC, plus their updated versions (like new bank and credit card statements, new leases and and whatever you have updated so far). When I came to my AOS interview I brought only the originals of copies sent and some pictures, and was sort of scolded by the officer for not bringing updated evidences (like we traveled again to my home country during the processing of my application and did not bring those tickets for the interview). ROC interview should not be of difference in that sense.

Thanks for the difference. Unfortunately, I forgot to make copies of a lot of the stuff we sent with the ROC package and will only be bringing updated evidence of everything. :/

If I do plan to travel tho what should I do?

Also I am a bit confused... I thought that by applying n400 would make them have to review my ROC faster ...

But I guess it will delay my ROC? I thought I would be receiving the approval of ROC soon and then later the n400 interview

But hey, no worries... I guess I will wait and hope it goes fast,, I live in Los angeles so not sure what service center it was applied....

You would have to schedule an infopass appointment to get a stamp in your passport, which allows you to reenter the US if the greencard is expired.

It pushes USCIS to adjudicate the ROC, but doesn't make them move any quicker necessarily.

As far as I understand, now instead of being on ROC schedule, you are on N400 schedule.

So, if you are CSC November filer - your approximate ROC approval date is March-April, when you apply for citizenship the approximate N400 interview date falls, let's say, in February - then yes, you'll get to adjudicate ROC faster. However, if you are Vermont November filer - your ROC approval date is December of this year, but your N400 interview date is still in February - then you actually delay your ROC approval by applying for citizenship.
