Filing N400 online, anyone?

I will try to apply for Naturalization online on 11/27.

 

I was reading about what we need to submit and it looks like we just need to submit the Green Card and marriage certificate photocopies. The rest of the evidence such as bank statements, mortgage, tax transcripts must be taken to the interview. But not submitted online. Is this how everybody understands it? For some offices, online seems much faster than paper. But for SF office, they are both pretty slow. However, I will still suggest to apply online.

lol. Well, I know paper is slow though. It took me more than 250 days to complete the whole progress. I don't know if filing online would expedite the case but I doubt it really depends on the office.

If you are filing under the 5-year rule, you do not need to upload financial/tax evidence.

If you are filing under the 3-year rule, you need to upload it.

Oh that explains it. I am applying under the 3-year rule. So I will submit all the financial and tax evidence. 

This is what I am currently thinking to submit:

1. lease agreement and car sales agreement

2. past 3 years (2014-2016) of tax transcripts from the IRS website. If I submit these tax transcripts, do I also need to submit the 1040 forms? Or are the tax transcripts enough?

3. bank statements. regarding the bank statements, since 12 per year for 3 years would be a lot of pages, which ones should I upload?

4. My husband became citizen through naturalization, after his parents became citizens through naturalization. What do I need to upload for him to show he was citizen for over 3 years now? Can I upload a copy of his latest passport? Even though he recently renewed his passport so his new passport was issued this year?

5. is there anything else we should upload?

Tax transcripts are sufficient enough.

Just a few from each year, or quarterly statements.

Passport proves your husband's citizenship.  Just upload the bio page, doesn't matter how new the passport is.

If you have a lot of proof already, you may want to skip the lease agreement, up to you.  Or upload just the current one.  Front-loading an application is good, but you don't want to overload them either.  When filing the application online, depending on how you fill out the pages, it will prompt you at the end what to upload.

 

Anything else you want them to consider, you would upload it under the Additional Evidence tab.

Yes, I wouldn't want to upload more than needed. The process takes long enough as it is. I do not want to slow them down even more. Thanks a lot for the great advice.

I am a SF paper filer, it will take me over 250 days as well.

He hasn't had a day for his interview, and he is waiting to be scheduled. 

@qaszxc1234 : No this is why I was thinking if it was actually expedited when we applied online... I applied for my friend (different office) and have been waiting for 5 months already.

After I answered these questions, if indicated I may be eligible to apply for naturalization since I have been a lawful permanent resident for more than 5 years however your own circumstances and answers to these questions will determine whether you are eligible.

 

Hope this is helpful.

NY field office is busy too, but online filers seem to get an interview date pretty quickly.

By the way, for question #6, what did you guy reply? A business trip, or vacation doesn't count as leaving the US right?
