I have Hong Kong and Thailand trip beginning of November - and I need tourist visas for both. HK requests 4 weeks to issue one. So I ll need to calculate my timing properly to apply for it - to have my current passport on hands for N-400 interview and/or Oath. Or what if  I get lucky and have my US passport before the trip? (rhetorical question) That's my dilemma here

NY does offer same-day processing for passports, if you can prove upcoming travel or other emergencies....so that may be the best option for you if it starts to get close after your interview.

Once you have your interview day, check the oath ceremony schedule from your local office. You can also expedite your US passport application to get it within 2 week. Just a rough time frame to determine if you will get the US passport before your trip.

NY offers same-day passport processing & pick up with proof of travel so use that---you'll pay a bit more but it's worth it in the end.  Also, I'm assuming your interview is at Federal Plaza?  They do oath ceremonies every Friday that accommodate up to 300 people each---so you'll most likely get scheduled into one quickly after your interview.

My friend had Oath in Brooklyn 3-4 years ago, I assume I ll go there too, since I live in that borough. Is it scheduled based on in which borough u live or not?

Yes....although sometimes they will send different residents to different areas depending upon room.

My field office is Queens, however my oath will take place in Brooklyn.

It's easy to find---through Google, or reading cases of people around here who also filed in NY....for instance, I quickly found this just now:

The New York City Field Office Judicial Ceremonies approximately 3-4 times per week.  Administrative Ceremonies are conducted most Fridays and on certain holidays and other special events.  The New York City Field Office does not have same-day naturalization ceremonies.
