I think a lot of their cars are from the 50s.  Personally, I am fine with continuing with a policy of openness, and this is one of the items where I think Obama did a good thing.  The families that lost property way back when might be upset, but in war/revolution, many people come up losers.

From what I have read they will take a lot of work.  They look really good on the outside, but their chassis has been band-aided together for the past 60 years or so.

I am sure 60 years, no maintenance materials and salt air have taken their toll. Still a testament to how well built the cars in 50s were. Imagine if the Cubans were left with a bunch of 1980s Chrysler lebarons..the revolution would have lasted 6 months.

Yes, I think that is why we don't see a lot of Soviet era Ladas down there.

I am swerving to the left on this one. One of the things Obama did that I liked. I think more trade,  more. American influence is a fast way to get rid of the oppressive socialist govt. One the get use to big Macs it's over. Big Mac diplomacy.

In 1990 I ran into some folks from Russia from that were buying up old dodge omnis even for parts who then pieced them together to make a working vehicle in the USSR. For us it sounded like a crazy ### amount of work to wind up with one of the worst cars built.  I wonder what happened tie these guys, probably running an oil company.

Actually I lean very heavy towards what I understand about universal coverage. Somethings got to give. What we are doing sure isn't working, Obama care is a joke , having nothing is a joke and the pubs version is just act two, they are just changing the scenery.

I favor universal health care

Pro decriminlization of most drugs

I'm pretty much the same as this, except pro gay/pro-any-other-human marriage (rather than partnership), pro-polygamy (if anyone wants to marry multiple partners, dude or chick, who cares), and differ on the Cuba thing.. I've strayed lately from libertarian economic policies on free trade and open borders mainly due to how the left and right have handled these issues, and favor a much stronger pro-law and pro-national (i.e. protectionist) policy on immigration and trade.
