Residence of Past 5 years

Hi there,

My first question is regarding the "Residence of past 5 years" in the form for K1 visa. So I am from Boston, MA and I moved in Maryland in March, 2013 for job. Since my hometown is in Massachusetts, I consider it as my permanent address. When I moved in Maryland back on 2013, I was living temporarily with other girls in a apartment for 3 months and I never signed any contract with them. When I received my first pay check from my company, the street number of the apartment was wrong in the check. However, I did not care about it much as the money was directly deposited into my bank account. My question is whether I need to mention this address of my temporary stay from Mar. 2013 to May 2013 in the form. Even if I do, how can it be verified?

My second question: I have always been filing my income tax return under my permanent address in Massachusetts even though I work in Maryland. So can I still put my current address which is in Maryland as "U.S. Petitioner's complete US address"? The reason is I am applying for K1 visa for my girl friend and my parents who live in Massachusetts are not aware of it as they won't approve our relation as of now. So I wish to be contacted only on my current address in MD even though my income tax file has address of my hometown in MA. Is it fine?

I hope I could explain well. I am little confused about how should I fill this section.

Thank you in advance,

Sadia

Doesn't the form only ask for the current address where you are staying? It matters because that's where they will be mailing the notices.

edit: You can put the mar-may 2013 address in the physical address parts of the form.

Use the Maryland address for all your mailing address on the forms since that is where you are currently staying. That is where they will be mailing the notices. I think the Massachusetts address is important as they will be using that to compare the address of your tax returns and the address on your SS number. You can put the Massachusetts address for the part where it asks you your physical address (there are parts where it asks you the duration of when you lived there)
