I was curious because for filipinos married abroad we have to report it to the consulate to be recognized. After we got married in the Philippines, Ive no idea on what to do next if there is a need to report the marriage to the US embassy or not. Thank you very much audacieux89 :)

I completely understand about this and it is a headache to do this sometimes. But as long as y'all are legally married in the Philippines then the United States recognizes that as well. The only time the Federal Government will want to know your marriage status is when your asawa files his taxes, that is pretty much it.

It's my belief that the reasoning behind a national marriage registration for the Philippines is solely do to the no divorce law. Hence, the US does not require such process because there is no need to track that information. How else can the PI monitor their citizens but use it to track who is and isn't married to better control divorce. So to control the marriage process they have to set up a national registery.

So the rule here is register in the PI but no need in the States.

OK.  what is your take on a national registry for birth?   :)     U.S. only uses a locally issued BC there also.

My take.  It is all about control.

Prior to creating this post, I asked the County where my husband resides on how to obtain information regarding the recognition of my husband's foreign marriage in the United States and what documentation may be needed. They replied I will need to get an Apostille to have it recognized and it made me more confused 😟 so I made this post to know what others had experienced.

Im glad I did. 😊 im so grateful to receive helpful comments. Thank you very much

Thank you for your feedback.

I concur. 😊

Aside from marriages, the Phil. Statistics Authority is the central source of data regarding birth, civil status and death of all the Filipino resident citizens as mandated by the Republic Act 3753 or the  Law on Registry of Civil Status. It makes concensus on the total population, analyzes the condition of the nation and focuses more on how it will have an impact on the Philippine's economy.

I am not from phillipines but from India. My husband is US citizen and we were married in India in 2013. Now i am here  on green card.

When my husband returned to US  after we were married in India , he went missouri jackson county clerk office of recorder of deeds and recorded our marriage license under official public records. Now its kind of published on their website as i international marriage license as the document type and can pulled up and used if need be. I dont think its needed since Missouri attorney general office states that in general any foreign marriage that was valid in that country should be valid in missouri as long as its not against the law of that foreign country or missouri public policy such as marriage between young children etc.

If you want you can always go to county clerk office and record this as international marriage license under official public records.
