What time period should the evidence cover? (split)

Hello VJ members,

 

I'm planning to send my package next week and I have a couple of questions about the fees.

First, can my husband (US citizen) write a check? I ran out of the personal checks and he thinks it'd look nice him paying for it. Also, is a simple printed check acceptable? We haven't received our normal checks and all we have are the black and white checks which teller at the bank printed for us.

Second, can we send one check for the total amount of $680?

Also, I thought we are supposed to provide the evidence for a period of time from the date when my GC was approved until now (2 years), not since the date of marriage. We moved and got rid of a lot of papers like bills and letters, could this be a problem? For example, the earliest bank statement I got is dated May 2015, with us being married since November 2014 and my GC being approved on July,27 of 2015. Please, advise.

We haven't ordered any checks because we barely ever use them. I will call USCIS on Monday to clarify, these checks have the bank name and my husband's name on it, so I hope we can use it.

 

Oh yes I will. It was a very stressful process of moving. We have an old lease and a few bank statements, so maybe we will get lucky. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about it now
