My petitioner who is based in Seattle, Washington received a mail from NVC regarding their acceptance of our case. They also noted that they will now forward the petition to the US Embassy in Manila. He tried calling the NVC to ask if the petition can be transferred in the US Embassy based in Dubai for it is where I am residing. We have made an honest mistake regarding the mix ups of the embassies on our I-129 forms. Unfortunately, the NVC informed him that the case has already been forwarded to the Manila US Embassy. I called up the Manila US Embassy today and have asked them if the case can be transferred in Dubai. They informed me that I should coordinate with the Dubai US Consulate for the transfer. I emailed the Dubai US Embassy and was informed that immigrant visas are processed in Abu Dhabi.

I am under the K-1 Visa application. If it is possible to have my case transferred, how long would the transfer process take place? I am concerned about the time frame because it can affect the time for our wedding in the US! Does anyone have any idea if it is better for me to transfer the case in Abu Dhabi or just process it in Manila? I am afraid the transfer might take up to much time. If I am going to process it Manila, I would have to take unpaid leave from my work and I don't know how much time I have to be in Manila since I have to do he medical exam and wait for visa approval after the interview.

First, unfortunately like it has been said time and time again, never make plans until visa is in hand. Anyone can just do a court house wedding then plan to do a large wedding ceremony later to avoid this. Has been discussed countless times here.

As to transferring, I have no specific time line for you; but have heard it can take some time to transfer.  As to time frame in Manila if you had to go back to process there, would take probably 2-3 weeks depending on availability of medical appointment(and that's if also the medical goes smoothly and no other tests are needed), also appointment availability, and if you go back to Manila before you leave you must go back through CFO again. These should all definately be pre-planning. Also for appointment and such if not paid online you must pay in person at a BPI branch. So choice is really only yours to make.

You can't really schedule any future plans yet until your interview (and approval).

The process varies from country to country. I would suggest you look at the country specific forums for you to have an idea how long the whole process takes for UAE/Philippines. :)
