My fiancé and I are compiling affidavits from friends and family to confirm our relationship, but we would need the affidavits to be translated. Can we translate these ourselves? And when submitting the documents, we would include both the original in Arabic or Spanish, and the translated version, am I correct?

Same question for screenshots of conversations with our families where we discuss our relationship. Can we translate that ourselves, too?

I would recommend that if you translated them yourselves make sure to get it notarized

Why would he need to get them notarized?

A notary can only attest to the identity of the person signing the documents.  A notary can not attest to the accuracy of the translation.  USCIS wants a certification of the translation, not a notary confirming the identity of the person signing the translation.  US immigration doesn't require a notarization either.

Why can't the OP use the USICS certification block like everyone else?

You can translate everything yourself.  There is no need for a notary.  Use the USCIS certification block that they recommend.

Always include a copy of the original foreign language document and include your certified translation.
