Hello

My wife and I are going through the process of getting her AOS after our marriage.  When we got married, here in the States, she took my last name.  For her middle name, we decided to use her maiden name.  We would then drop her middle name.  So, if her name was Giselle Ronaldo Bundchen, after marriage it became Giselle Bundchen Brady.  That's how we applied through USCIS.

However, when we visited the Brazilian consulate, they said they could only accept her name as either Giselle Brady, or Giselle Ronaldo Bundchen Brady.  There's no negotiation there, absent a written order from a Brazilian judge.

So we are dealing with a few possibilities, and would love to hear anyone's advice.  She can have separate names in Brazil than US.  We can amend her USCIS filing, though I'm not aware of the best way to proceed.  Right now, we have completed the biometrics and are waiting for her work authorization.  We do plan on going to an infopass session too.

Thank you for any advice that you're willing to share.

She doesn't need to do anything else, same happened to me. Just use Giselle Brady because she is married now.

Here in the US they use more middle names than Brazil, when I went to the Consulate just used my married last name, they don't ask for middle name usually.

American documents they ask for middle name, in that case just add her maiden name..

Also request a Brazilian marriage certificate in the consulate registering her name change to Brady.
