Has anyone here attended the Oath ceremony at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston? If yes, would you able o answers few questions? How big is this convention? Can I bring more than one guest to the ceremony, even though USCIS advises us to not bring more than one guest. How long does it take from the beginning to the end of the ceremony? I would like to take my 6 years old son, my husband, my on-laws, and my two sister to so important event in my life, but I don't know what I am going to do to get them to get in, since USCIS stated that I only can bring a guest.

I took a look online on the calendar of June for events at Hynes Convention, and they are saying that they are expecting 3 thousand people. It seems like a lot me.

Thanks for everyone help.

I had my oath at Faneuil Hall but I remember a few people who had oaths at Hynes last year. They do Hynes oaths only once a year. Last year this was again in  mid-June. Huge ceremony, over 2500 applicants will take oath. Ceremonies itself are short (40-45mins) but the arrivals and pre-registrations take a while. Here is the link to the posting from Hynes oath last year. Looks like it took 4 hrs for her. My ceremony was ~2.5 hrs at Fanueil. That's the difference having 2500 vs 400 people I guess.

I also posted pics I found on twitter for this ceremony here

I think one guest rule is standard for Boston ceremonies. My oath letter stated the same. However, they did not enforce this at Faneuil Hall at all. Applicants and guests separate while entering the building and no one asked the guests how many people were in their party or for whom they were attending the ceremony. After all there were still empty seats at the Hall, no one was standing. I can't imagine they would enforce this at Hynes either but to be on the safer side maybe your guests could enter separately, or at least act like they don't know each other while entering the building. Worse come to worst, if they really enforce this rule, tell in-laws and sisters to hang around Copley or Common.

Good luck in your ceremony!

Sonia I was just going to ask the same question as you - a friend is going to the same ceremony and was told very strictly in red writing to only bring ONE guest.  Which sucks because her young children wanted to see her become a citizen.   You can actually look up the other venues for the Boston area - they expect to naturalize 2500 people at that ceremony, so while I kind of understand it's A LOT of people, it sucks for her.  I heard the bigger the ceremony, the longer it takes.  They do one big one there a year it seems.

We were debating if people were going to bring others with them (easier to ask for forgiveness than permission kinda thing) but then it's not fair to everyone else.

@Sonia_Sonia you aren't being punished for asking.  The moderator noticed that you posted the same question multiple times and combined them into one post.  That is all - it's just housekeeping and they explained why they moved your post.

If you read up, you will see that others, including myself have responded to you.
